Your thoughts on Flat MR Blues on mages?
AP is situational, MR is the most reliable pick.
1,34 MR
vs
2,7 MR at lvl 18 from MR/level
vs
3,06 AP at lvl 18 from AP/lvl
1,34 MR means that a health of 2000 would gain 28 "bonus health" from MR
2,7 MR means that a health of 2000 would gain 56 "bonus health" from MR
3 AP means that a combo of 300% AP ratio would deal 9 more damage.
In situations where the enemy have high magical damage output by at least 1 person, it is adviced to take MR glyphs. However, if the enemies lack a magical damage dealer, MR of course aren't very useful, therefore AP is the better pick.

Flat MR is superior for trading and are therefore "better" on almost every mage. Exceptions are mages with high range ( laser max Viktor for example, I guess ) who trade from so far away that they're unlikely to be taking damage from their inferior ranged laning opponent. If you're dealing damage but not receiving damage, scaling ap > flat mr.
On someone like
Swain, who needs to get up close and personal to deal damage, flat MR is better. With almost no exception.
It's not even a case of having high AP ratios or not. Flat MR is just simply better in ANY case where you're trading with your enemy, as opposed to harassing with no counter-harass possible from your enemy. (
Cassiopeia vs
Ryze, laser max
Viktor vs
Swain, etc. )

Viktor doesn't max laser if he's looking for trades. ;p
That's my point, Viktor would max laser if he's looking to out-range his opponent with no chance of getting counter-harassed. :P If he doesn't receive harass, then MR isn't very useful.
Edit: By trade in my first post I meant harass.

Faker doesn't run any MR, just sayin'. I usually don't if I feel like I can get away with it.
Faker is god. He doesn't get hit by anything anyway.

The extra damage seems somewhat less valuable when you're conistantly fighting glass cannon lanes.
