Yeah they are some really interesting builds, a lot different from all the rest. They are fun and work well.

DPSy support champs? I'd say Janna, Nidalee, or Lux. Not sure who is better for which map though.
Janna - Medium difficulty; her ult is useful for both breaking enemy formation or focusing your own team's formation. It can even be used as an offensive spell as this video showcases.

Janna is a diffuclt champ to play. People think she is easy but she isnt. I love to play her as the DPS Support. Im currently revamping my guide for her.
Nidalee isnt hard to play. Ive got a Support DPS guide for her too lol. It all takes time to get use to the play style.
Hell if you want a great DPS Support, Taric can do it too. Yep I got a guide for him too. Revamping that one too... The day of a theory-crafter lol
EDIT: I forget Alistar. He can be a beast when it comes to support and DPS. AS you might have guessed, Ive a build for him too lol.
I need to make some vids lol

If you want a champion to master, try any of the 6300 IP champs. If i'm not mistaken, they're priced on complexity so those should be pretty hard to get the hang of. Though many might not think it, anivia is considered support for her slow/stun/wall. She can nuke, but if you get a different item build you can easily spec her mostly support. Her DPS is godly as well, and she's in the 6300 IP range so mastering her would take some time.
