Ive done the math, and the only scaling u want is the yellow hp (greater seal of vitality) because the bonus matches the flat ones by level 5. Other than those runes everything else *the was discussed in previous posts) you get should be flat. I personally got dodge cuz u dont really itemize for it and having that 6.8% (for me anyways) is a better chance of survival.

I will Ryze to the occasion... hur hur

yes mrp marks and AP quints are generally standard for a caster. That was a good purchase

if you want more ap, AP/lvl Glyphs are the way to go as well, however, you may want some survivability :P

well as a joke i built a runepage for ryze that is magic pen reds and mana everything else.

flat mana runes gives i think 275.76 mana at level one.

scaling mana runes gives 644.something mana at level 18.

by level 8 scaling mana seals glyphs and quints gives more mana than flat, and end up with more than double the amount of mana that flat ones give.

anyway, since i was trying to maximize damage i went with the scaling ones. and with a full build at level 18 and a maxed tear i'm getting 6k mana.

275 mana would give a bonus 22 damage on Overload, and plenty of mana to use it.

That could be kinda scary at lvl 1 x_x 66 damage on a 3.5 second cooldown.

Then + Ryze base mana and a mana crystal. + 16, + 24 = 40

YIKES.

Overload for 106 or 107 dmg every 3.5 seconds at level 1... How do you lane against that? o_O

Even though it costs 70, you've got like 7-900 mana (Didn't do the math.) to spam away with :P

Ye, flat mana quints are a given on Ryze unless you wanna run MS or MrP on him. Scaling mana quints just give double the amount and that is just not worth it.
I'm pretty sure the scaling mana seals are better than the flat.
In glyphs on the other hand; I don't know whether to use flat or scaling mana runes. (flat give 42% of what the scaling ones do, they cross over at lvl8)

Even if they're better, I think I'd still be tempted to run the flat ones to deal 105 dmg per Q at lvl 1 xD

That would offer such lane dominance early... Scary.
