Rule of thumb, never buy spell vamp on Kassadin. There is one situation that makes spell vamp worth it, and that's running a double AP comp with two WotAs. Cooldowns on his spells are too long to get any real sustain out of it, so buying more AP will be noticeably more effective because then you just kill your opponents faster and don't need to worry about sustain. Because they're dead.
RoA is a necessary evil on Kassadin, imo. You need the Catalyst proc for mana sustain, and you need AP because you're Kassadin. RoA is the only core defensive item in Kassadin's build, though. Past that you buy straight AP: Rabadon's, Zhonya's, and Void Staff. There are people and guides (thinking specifically of Voyboy's prolol guide) that will say double RoA, and I can't say that's bad without trying it, but it's not an efficient way to build killing power, which is what Kassadin wants, and is definitely not suited to the shorter length of TT.

Double RoA is depressing. Much better way to spend your money. One isn't bad at all, it just takes too long for the stacking of the second one to make it even 20% as useful as something else.

I wouldn't want Archangel's on TT because Kassadin takes forever to stack it. Like I've run Archangel's Kassadin, but it just takes so long to stack the mana passive, and it doesn't give you enough flat boost to allow you to rush it and stack it faster. If you're really against RoA you can just leave the Catalyst as-is and build the rest of what you want (i.e. AP) and then finish it to a Banshee's if you run out of things to buy. The passive and stats are the important part, and he can still nearly gib squishies with no AP at all around level 8 up until 13.
