I'll actually have to diagree there. I once used it to initiate on the enemy Soraka when she was close to her teammates. My teammates took care of her and I tried to get close to a wall which I just flashed over when the bonus armor/mr buff ended. They wasted enough cooldowns on me to make them lose the entire teamfight.
But I do wanna point out that you almost need flash or ghost to survive such things.
