Try These Two Inkborn Comps in Patch 14.13

Still trying to get the hang of the newest TFT patch? Try out one of these two trending team comp ideas in your next match!

Lux is one of the most sought-after units in Patch 14.13, and you'd do well to take advantage of her power by playing a Porcelain-Arcanist comp with her as the star of the show. Support your Lux carry with a tanky frontline and be ready to reroll at 6 for a big power spike.

Early Game Comp

This comp is super versatile, especially early on. Once you've got your Lux, you'll want to grab some Arcanists and, if you're able to, an Amumu would slot in perfectly as well. With Amumu, Illaoi, and Lux, you have the perfect early game, though you'd need to get pretty lucky to get all three.

Neeko is a cheaper alternative to Illaoi, and makes a great fourth unit. If you have Neeko, Illaoi, and Lux, you only need one more Arcanist to get Arcanist 4 very early, so you can slot in an Ahri or Zoe to achieve that. Beware, this may be too weak a frontline depending on the game you’re in.

Instead of Arcanist 4, you can pair Amumu, Illaoi, and Lux with Diana and Janna to grab Dragonlord 2 and start building towards Sage. Both of these traits are perfect for a Lux carry, and it is what we’re aiming to go for as the game progresses.

Item Priority

Try to make a Spear of Shojin for Lux as soon as possible, and then you can be more picky. Lux can do well with a great variety of different AP items, including Rabadon's Deathcap, Guinsoo's Rageblade, Nashor's Tooth, or Jeweled Gauntlet. You’ll need at least two or three Needlessly Large Rods to build her best items.

It would be great to get at least one Statikk Shiv for your secondary back-line carry, like Janna, Zyra, or Morgana. You can acquire more Shred by building one or more Ionic Sparks on your frontline tanks like Amumu or Diana. Other great items for the frontline include a Gargoyle Stoneplate or Redemption. Negatron Cloaks will be a big priority component-wise for your tanks.

Top Augments

  • Boiling Point - An obvious choice for a Porcelain carry. This will give your Lux more mana, allowing her to use her ability more, and her attacks will now cause Burn and Wound.

  • Magic Wand - Gain a free Needlessly Large Rod and grant 18 Ability power to all of your units - great for such a magic-oriented team comp.

  • Jewelled Lotus II - This allows your Lux's ability to critically strike, potentially massively increasing her damage. This would also mean that a Jeweled Gauntlet is no longer a necessary buy on Lux.

  • Heroic Grab Bag - For a comp that so heavily relies on a two-cost unit, you may find the Heroic Grab Bag to be super important to getting your carry upgraded to three stars.

  • Porcelain/Sage Crest - Getting either of these opens up a lot of options for your comp, though it's not necessary to make the composition work.

Late Game Comp

Let's say we've got Amumu, Lux, and Illaoi as our core and build from there. Ideally we'd  like to get some Sage and Dragonlord next. Diana has both of these traits, so placing her in the frontline gets you halfway there. Next, grab a Janna and a Zyra, or, even better, a Morgana for your backline. Now you'll have Arcanist 2, Dragonlord 2, and Sage 2, and heaps of powerful three-costs.

As briefly mentioned, the success of this comp will hinge on the power of your Lux. Since she's a two-cost unit, you'll need to ensure that you can three-star her, and the best time to do that is around now - level 6. Around this time you'll either want to roll down or soft roll, rolling down from 50+ gold to 30 each round until you've got enough Luxes to upgrade her to three-star.

With your carry at their maximum power, you'll have a very strong backline, and may need more support in the front. You can finish your comp in several different ways. You can grab Lee Sin and Rakan to get 4 Dragonlord and two pretty potent off-tanks. You can also grab Wukong and Annie, gaining both another Sage and an Invoker for your Janna. If you go above 8, you may want to get all four of these down the line. If you opt for Wukong and Rakan, a Soraka will slot in perfectly, activating Heavenly for all of your units and granting Altruist 2.

Lux and Amumu are your priority units - prioritise starring and itemising them over others!

This comp has risen in popularity as well, but it is highly game-dependent. If you get the option to take the golden augment Ethereal Blades at 2-2, you may just want to drop whatever plans you had and try out this fun Shen carry composition instead.

Early Game Comp

So you've got your Shen and your Ethereal Blades Augment. This gives Shen more damage and longer attack range, so put that Behemoth in the backline for once, and lets get him a proper frontline now. Naturally you may be inclined to grab several Behemoths - Cho'Gath, Malphite, and Yorick should be easy gets. If you can acquire Thresh, even better - replace the Cho'Gath as soon as possible.

With this Behemoth 4 start, you now only need some more damage to round things out in the early game, and you have plenty of options. For example, you can grab Alune or Yone (for Umbral 2), Soraka (for Heavenly 2), or Caitlyn (Ghostly 1). I would suggest an AP option like Alune or Soraka, as we can later replace them with a Morgana and transfer any items.

Item Priority

Ethereal Shen is built like an AD fighter. Your top priority is Guinsoo's Rageblade - and some people get more than one. Then you'll want to get a Bloodthirster for some sustain. Afterwards, you can take your pick. Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, and Titan's Resolve are some options you can't go wrong with.

If you're itemising your secondary AP carry, be that Soraka or Alune early on, you'll want to actually build the items Morgana will like best - Spear of Shojin, Morellonomicon, and Nashor's Tooth for example. However, Shen is your #1 priority.

If you're itemising your tanks, all the usual stuff is best - Redemption, Dragon's Claw, Gargoyle Stoneplate and the like will be great on your Yorick, or any other Behemoth.

Top Augments

  • Ethereal Blades - A must-have to play this comp, as it will transform your run of the mill Shen into a carry. If you don’t get this augment, this comp won’t really work unless you make Morgana your carry instead.

  • Ascension - An interesting choice for this comp - Shen and his frontline are tanky enough to endure the first 15 seconds of combat and reap the 50% damage boost pretty consistently.

  • Heroic Grab Bag - For a comp that so heavily relies on a two-cost unit, you may find the Heroic Grab Bag to be super important to getting your carry upgraded to three stars.

  • You Have My Bow - Great if you're running double Guinsoo's Shen, but good either way as several excellent Shen items need a Recurve Bow.

  • Behemoth Crest - Grants you some versatility, allowing you to replace a low-cost Behemoth with a high cost unit instead.

Late Game Comp

With our base of Behemoth 4, it's super easy to get the last two units and get Behemoth 6. Your best options are, of course, the four and five cost Behemoths, Ornn and Udyr.

In the backline, as discussed, you should replace your Alune/Soraka with a Morgana, which will net you Ghostly 2 and Sage 2 once you get your Wukong. Wukong will also activate Heavenly 2 for you, giving your team Magic Resistance, Armour, and Attack Speed - a perfect addition.

With this, you already have your 8 units. If you can expand further, you can look into several different options. You can easily slot in an Azir to activate Dryad 2, or grab a Sett to activate Umbral 2, and get you nearly to Fated 3 since you also have a Thresh. Depending on what you settle on, you’ll have your pick of a secondary carry to help Shen out with damage. Sett, Wukong, Udyr, and Morgana are all terrific carry options.

Shen is your priority unit - prioritise starring and itemising them over others!
