Current viablity of Doran's?

Watched some higher ELO game (the ingame live spectate in the lobby :P) and seen some plat/diamond people use them, especially and .

I'm still stuck in bronze so that can't be compared :P but works well for pub stomping...

start is viable. start is not.

If you are talking about purchasing these items after you back, it is perfectly fine since the Doran's items are extremely cost-efficient and give you a large increase in laning power. Two s give you much more than a and buying them may well be what causes you to win your lane.

Hi , about dorans i wanna say something;

Dorans are made for early game.
Why would high elo players start with it?
-They have a lot of experience so they know when junglers gank(cleartime/if ur pushed).
-It can help a heavy lane
-It does sustain you if you can play heavy agressive
-Sometimes you dont need a ward , like you play leblanc so you can kill 1 and get away easy.
-On ad's its quite nice , you got some sustain + HP + DMG
+ your sup can give sustain + you dont need wards

PS: About dorans shield : I normally take it vs Udyr , darius , or some others who rely on BA.

Doran's Shield is pretty gud on supports, and sometimes even toplane it's quite underrated

Some Fiddles go Machete 2 pots Ward too.
I can start Machete 2 Pot Ward on Lee.
Not uncommon if you know you need the ward, you just have to find a way to make up the sustain.

I ran into this Fiddlesticks who starts + Sight ward plus biscuit and counterjungles at level 1. Pretty ridiculous that it actually works.

I pick usually when playing top as someone like , or (sometimes on other champs as well). and work well together and offer you a lot of sustain against AD champions.

I used it so far only in ARAM or playing Mundo top, and even that is not optimal. So when do you take ?

Can you quantify why '3 dorans blades is BAD'? I don't buy any Doran's items often, and I'm wondering what makes 3 Dorans blades so substantially less viable than 2.

It may not be a bad idea to buy 2-3 's if you're in a burst heavy bot lane or if you're really behind.

Usually I get Doran's when I am really behind or far ahead. If I am behind the Doran's can get me back to the game. In the other hand, if I am ahead, I can star outplaying my enemy. But if it is a farm lane, usually I go for the straight build.

But I am not an experienced player, so maybe I am wrong about this.

The thing with Dorans is that they dont build in anything.
when 2 laners go against each others and one builds 2-3 dorans the other 0 ones the one with the doran items starts to get behind as soon as his opponent finishes his first item (how much depends on the item).

So if you feel like you wont get zoned or anything when you dont build dorans you shouldnt build them. Also Dorans are great to get a lead in early game to get aggressive and snowball.
