Is Rengar in a tough spot or did I just become worse?

So, apparently I can't play Rengar anymore. Used to be one of my best junglers, I got him to level 6 pretty easily. Then when they reverted his Q back to the old one, I haven't had one good game with him. Either I get invaded and destroyed early, I go for a gank only to get burst before the enemy dies, I get caught by the enemy jungler while going to gank and dying before I can return any damage. I have read countless guides and absolutely no result, every game is hell for me made only worse from abusive teammates as always. So, yeah, I'm not sure, is Rengar in a bad spot right now or is it just another indication of how much I suck at this game?

Rengar is much more matchup dependent than he used to be. He did suffer a few nerfs early in the season, but they have pretty much reverted most of the changes they have made. There are other junglers right now that are much better and can counter rengar pretty hard rn. Taliyah is the one that comes to mind. She can blindfire rocks into a bush and can use her W to knock a pouncing rengar back. He is still good, its just that a lot of other jungle champs have gotten better.

When are you ganking? Before or after 6?

He's not considered meta, but he's actually pretty good right now. His rework was a straight up buff overall. His clear speed is solid and his combo is very fluid and almost instant if you animation-cancel your E (Q->E->W->Q).
Why are you worried about invades? I'm pretty sure you can fight them around bushes. Maybe it's just me, but I never go mess with a Rengar in his jungle, it's way too risky, I only counterjungle him in reaction to his ganks.
