League of Legends (LoL) Question: Is using quick cast a superior way to play?

Is using quick cast a superior way to play?

So, we should all know that League has this feature called "Quick Cast", where it allows you to set your abilities to when you push Q,W,E, or R, your champ will automatically cast that ability (works for items too).

There are a couple champions who I play with all abilities on quick cast, Syndra and Irelia being the main 2. Then there are other champs where I have just 1 or 2 abilities on quick cast, such as Braum and Talon, who's E abilities ( Unbreakable and cutthroat) benefit greatly from having that ability on quick cast.

And then there are those champs who I don't use quick cast on at all, Xerath and Caitlyn being a couple. Since the 2 of them are extreme long range, I find it easier to slowly aim their abilities, allowing for greater accuracy.

My question is is should I start getting used to playing all of my champs on quick cast, or have I been doing it correctly? Obviously, you can't see if the pros are using quick cast all the time, nor can you see anyone else using it.

There really is no reason not to use quick-cast. It improves your reaction time by 0.3~ secconds on each skill which can potentially make or break your games.

If you need to set up a skill properly (rumble ult) you probably would have enough time to click. You should still keep it on quick cast for emergencies.

Event horizon is the only exception here since it's such a funk skill shot to land xD

You can always get range indicators; you don't verify it when casting, but it can be useful at the beginning of each match, to recall ranges

I also manual cast Final Spark to check the range since it's not something you can easily just eyeball.

I don't quick cast anything, I tried it for a while (1-2 games) but it confused the hell out of me and it's safe to say it's too late for me to get used to it. If you *want* to use quick cast in the future don't wait too long, though personally I don't have any issues with not using it.

i had that problem too when i started be using them, it just all felt weird, but i was tired of pressing the key of the skill that could secure me a kill or let me survive or let me whatever good thing and dieing/missing it for the split second i had too use to bring my mouse on the enemy and left click. Same for Ignite and items. I also use alt+"insert the name of a skill that can be selfcasted here" for things like Morgana's shield and lissandra's ulti to instantly cast them on myself.

My left mouse button is an attack move click (as an adc main I can say this improves orbwalking/kiting a lot, esp. with Draven).

So, I'm kinda obligated to use smartcast on EVERY champ now. That's why I avoid playing Veigar & Lux. Death Ray is actually quite easy to smartcast, but it takes some practice.

Smartcasting really is superior. You can make plays and react to stuff much faster. With burst champions you can do all of your burst at once instead of pressing 8 buttons.

Quick casting is smart casting, but if you are having trouble with that one ability leave it off until you get the hang of it, but having it on for the abilities your comfortable with and off for the abilities your not, is the best way to start using it.

But just remember it's a tool not a instant challenger making game changing magic button.

There are people in challenger who don't quick cast anything (though they're likely a minority). You don't need to use quick cast to be good, but personally I find it much more useful than regular casting. You just have to get the hang of spell ranges on each champion.

There are a couple spells I don't quick cast ( Event Horizon, Final Spark) but I usually just leave it on for most of my games. I think it's worth learning.

So far as I know it isn't buggy, I've played Rumble last week on ranked 3s and it went fine. It's like Death Ray, you gotta tap the R button and drag the ult where you want it to be cast and with the correct direction.

Equalizer is still buggy on smart cast yeah.

Isn't the Equalizer bugged on smart cast? GMD told me it was when it failed to go in the correct direction like 6 times when I tried Rumble. xD

I think it's mainly a matter of preference, I know people who quickcast pretty much everything except stuff like The Equalizer.

But the op mentioned Xerath and Caitlyn: I actually think it's good to have at least both their E on quick cast, because they're escape tools and that split second might be the difference between getting caught or not.

Quick cast is the superior way to play, yes there are those high up there who refuse to do it for whatever reasons but that's just an excuse to not learn the range of an ability properly (Event Horizon can maybe be an exception to that rule).
