What is the safest and most mana sustained AD Carry?
Asked by OTGBionicArm on November 18, 2012
I'm looking to try a new AD carry that better fits how I play at top lane (Farm, be safe, eventually outscale) so anyway, what carry would you all say would be the safest pick that holds itself up later in the game?
If you want a strong late game, go for Vayne, Kog'Maw or maybe Tristana (though she's typically more aggressive early game). If you want a safe early game, go for Caitlyn, Ezreal or Corki. Out of all of those, I believe Vayne and Caitlyn are the least mana dependent.
For higher lane security, I suggest running 19/11/0 in masteries. I also like to run 21/2/7 or 19/4/7 on some of the more mana-intensive ADs, but if you don't want to sacrifice durability, you don't have to.
If she's behind after laning phase, her mid game is pretty blech compared to other ADs. Mostly it's because she doesn't have any game-breaking abilities or strong steroids that let her duel people when she's behind on items. As long as you use your range well, you should be fine.
And as Pony said, her ultimate can be helpful if you can use it appropriately. It can secure kills almost as well as a Karth ult.
Graves passive and waveclearing is good for top lane. He also has a escape and smoke screen to avoid those oh so common top lane ganks.
Caitlyn can utilize the brush for more headshots, but mostly she has a really long range and that's hard to deal with for a lot of top laners. Her traps and net make her hard to gank as well and her ultimate works better in a 1v1 lane since it cannot be blocked.
Vayne can kite well with her tumble and her silver bolts work wonders on tanky characters. Just make sure to save your knockback for when you get ganked. Once she has her ult she's a little harder to gank though it's better to use it aggressively.
None of these champs have big mana problems as long as you don't spam their spells, and they can still be very potent without mana due to their passive abilities / range.
I find the question rather strange since a lot of the AD carries that scale well into late game can also do well early/mid game.
It's a lot harder to ignore the enemy bot lane since they have 2 champions instead of 1v1. If you're being passive they will probably be able to kill either you or your support. If they're aggressive they're going to be aggressive, and if they're passive and you're not aggressive you're wasting a valuable opportunity to get ahead. I haven't found any bot lanes that are just like "ignore eachother." Especially since aggressive supports are more popular at the moment.
You would also need to get a support that can focus on protecting you from dying and that can play passively (without wasting their potential). This forces your support into a certain role which is hard for solo queue.
I meant at bot lane still Mowen. I just wanted to play the champions like I play top lane champions. (Farm and essentially ignore the enemy laner, as I main Cho'Gath) I wanted a carry that can do that at bot lane.
Ez is kinda manahungry, but when you go 21/0/9 you should have less manaproblems on most AD Carrys (but you sacrifice some armor compared to 21/9/0. 25 Armor with flat armor seals on level 1)
Corki can be mana hungry. Depends on how often you have to use Valkyrie, and if not, how much you harrass with Phosphor Bomb.

The safest AD carry at the moment is probably ezreal, failing that learn vayne for a challenge and when you do thsi you should be able to play 90% of the other ad carry's perfectly.
Just saying Aphro's maxed everything on Varus and tried other stuff, recently he said he doesn't like W max on Varus anymore and he's started maxing Q. I've never tried E max but I usually do W max, I find he really can't dual in lane if he doesn't max w.
She does. I've been playing around with her and Vayne and ultimately I hate both of them as characters and playstyle. I dislike Vayne's risky "make it to at least mid game" style, and I hate Tristana's inconsistency. She goes grom jumping on people in lane to being the standard "right click stuff" champion, and back to jumping on people at end game.
There's absolutely no point in charging Piercing Arrow unless you're running poke comp, normally you fire it immediately to proc Blighted Quiver. And yea I do max E from time to time. It's definately better than Q max.
Varus is pretty flexible. Q Max is best poke. Max W for farm/dps lane. Maxing E is best for maximum control. I'd say maxing W is the best though because it's his main damage source as far as I'm concerned.
He's mana intense if you max Q. I hate poke lane and charging Q drops his DPS so I max W which means better farming and committed fighting DPS. W max Varus barely uses mana ever.
Sadly not without Flash. However if the lane wasn't warded well enough, or you're pushed up to their turret, that's both you and your supports fault you got ganked in the first place. XD
As far as against laners, Varus is pretty good at cutting off engagements before they happen with Hail of Arrows.
What about Varus? Because I'm already good with him. He's pretty strong all game, especially on AoE Comp. He only really suffers against Blitzcrank in lane.
Vayne is your best bet, since her skills cost relatively low mana. Ezreal scales extremely well, but is on the mana-hungry side. The same goes for Graves.
Master Yi, Tryndamere and Fiora are fitting carry for top lane (riot tagged them as carry despite they're melee). Not so mana intensive and fit current meta for top laners. And relatively safe becase they had speed boost and escape mechanism. Tryndamere does not even use mana.
Hmm, Tristana? She has two escapes post level 6 (three if you get a flash), you hardly spend mana in lane anyway (in duo bot it's different, depends on lane aggression, but top? Not really)

her passive is also nasty in teamfights
She's good esp since the nerfs.
And as Pony said, her ultimate can be helpful if you can use it appropriately. It can secure kills almost as well as a Karth ult.
I will say though that she does better in pokecomps usually, which you don't generally see outside of premades. Her ult is an amazing skill.
I think

Cait's safe and mana sustained if you don't spam spells but her influence is a lot less compared to other ADs mid game.
Most ADs aren't mana sustained.
also, aphromoo maxes E on Varus
And I thank everyone who took the time to discuss on this question. :3
trust in aphro :)
I always thought people maxed e because it was the best
I don't play him as much so idk about mana.
As far as against laners,
post 6 ult harass too.
