"before the patch thats going up now, dots and aoes were only giving half the effect.
aoes reasoning is easier because it was affecting multiple enemies simultaneously.
as for the dot, every time the enemy took damage it would refresh.

the only thing he gets is the number of souls guaranteed on each hit. in order to get max damage off his q passive you have to wait -10- seconds inbetween attacking.
on top of that, the bonus damage is magic, which wont really be helping you out that muc"
