Views: 2180 Why do people max E on mid Zed so much?

I have seen quite a few
Zed mid's lately, and they always seem to max Shadow Slash. Even on streams that I see, and I just don't get it. Zed is all about burst, and Shadow Slash does not give as much burst as Razor Shuriken. I can understand maxing Shadow Slash on top lane because it's better for dueling, and you have to max it as a jungle. I just don't see any good reasons to max Shadow Slash in mid lane.
(E does not do more damage for each hit with clone. Q does half damage on every damage but the first, so hitting it three times will result in double damage.)

Here is the combo: R-W-E-Q
E maxed (Not counting AD scaling):
R: 0
W: 0

Q: 220
R: 84
Total: 504
Q Maxed (Not counting AD scaling):
R: 0
W: 0
E: 95
Q: 430
R: 105
Total: 630
Now let's include some AD scaling. Zed will have about 115 AD (With a brutalizer)
The new combo is R-W-E-Q-Autoattack (with passive)
E Maxed:
R: 0
W: 0
E: 292
Q: 450
AA: 175
R: 298
Total: 1215
Q Maxed:
R: 0
W: 0
E: 187
Q: 660
AA: 175
R: 319
Total: 1341
(It's funny how Q nukes harder even if you don't max it.)
