Their aren't nearly enough global-ultimate-packing champions for the metagame to be about global skills.
IMO, the metagame seems so be on the fence between split-pushing and tanky DPS. Vayne has hit Tanky DPS hard. And, the Tenacity item (mainly cloak and dagger) "

AP scales on his Power Fists, Rocket Grab, and Ultimate.
Low CD Power Fist means you're practically a strong DPS. Means your static shocks and static fart hurt like bricks and pavement."

Clarity's possible, don't dismiss it so quickly Searz.
It's very useful on high mana teams and gives Zilean quite a bit of freedom early game, and we've all experienced Zilean's lane-harassment.
