Views: 629 Riot Game Mechanics Management (Pt2)

So, I'm back with my rant on Riot's Game management. Let's start with something fun, maybe...
This is probably the game's most defining item, starting with the fact it gives a bit of every offensive stat. However, this always takes the risk of taking blows with every slight change of the game. While it was very popular in S2, it fell out of grace for several reasons:
For those who don't remember, In early S3 it cost 4200g. Here is the first big contrast. Riot has been trying to cheapen Trinity Force ever since it was noticed it was not that great of an option. Players would no longer sit back and farm. the game had become more active and volatile. This is a heavy contradiction to earlier Riot manifests, claiming that tanky champions had too much of a guarantee for a win, so there should be a higher investment to overcome. With this, many tankier champions suffered, like Maokai and Rammus have little place in the jungle, while Malphite and Amumu are still credited due to their AoE. Nonetheless, Irelia might be back into the pro scene.
Also take note of the following: the passive change on Phage will be easier to counterplay, mainly with roots, but, in essence, the mechanic is the same. It still gives you AD, resistance and an ability to stick to the enemy. The values will most likely be nerfed since Trinity Force already gives a decent ammount of MS.
What's the big deal? In truth, Darius was a gamechanger, regarding champion design. Even though he might struggle ingame against some other champions, his skillset is rather unique. Darius is all about stacking Hemorrhage. And here's the thing: it deals magic damage. After Transcendent Blades got changed into physical damage, I think it would be expected to make damage types grouped, especially since the justification was to "make Irelia easy to counterbuild" (or something along those lines). To my memory, Darius is the only champion to deal damage of the three types, making him hard to build against. I also find inconsistent that you can build AD to deal magic damage, mainly when bleeding is something very physical. Besides, he has free armor penetration. See the Last Whisper and the Black Cleaver? yeah...
Don't get me wrong: comparing most of his matchups, he has a hard time but this, again, shows lack of consistency from Riot.
Reminding me of: true damage full reset is still a bit too good, i think. Also all those dunks to take kills from your adc are definitely not good.
Btw, this champion was a mere start of champions powercreeping ever so slightly upon release. Abilities are becoming more complex and newer champions can do more things than older ones, whitch brings us to...
Maybe next time, i'm tired of writing.

- Games became very short and Trinity Force was way more expensive.
- Phage price had gone up due to resistance price balancing (more on this later)
- Blade of the Ruined King was/is too good

Darius is a **** champ ever since they wrecked his ult and since S3 hit. He cannot build tanky anymore and actually be tanky. The penetration reversal (% applying first) hurt Darius more than it helped him. The BotRK also plays a huge role in Darius being worse.
Riot runs into the issue that the old champion designs are either out of style or simply overpowered. Garen and Katarina are fairly out of style while Kassadin and Nasus are absolutely OP. Personally I think Riot should revise all targeted CC abilities because, imo, those are what causes the most problems in the game.
On PBE its got -5 ad and the ms buff is halved for ranged champions (Same for Phage).
And yeah, newer champs EASILY outshine most of their older counterparts, then proceed to get nerfed ( Zed, Vi, Elise, Jayce, Thresh have received almost exclusively nerfs since release).
