I changed my computer desk about 6 months ago and the new one was a little taller than my old desk. I continued using my old desk chair, because it is very comfortable despite being broken on one corner and the cloth exterior starting to get threadbare. The thing that made me interested in a new chair was that I was noticing my knees hurting after a session of 2-3 games of League. Not cool.

So after just dealing with it for a couple of months, I decided to pull the trigger on a chair last week. I've have and have had some nice office chairs, so I have some experience with higher end seating. I knew I didn't want to spend anything outrageous so things like a Herman Miller Aeron chair were never on the table.

I did want something that looked nice and wasn't too garish since my computer desk is in my living room. I've had a eye on the racer style seats after seeing them on streams and used at LoL professional events, so I decided to start my search there. From what I found there are basically two manufacture's of repute making the racer style chairs: Maxnomic and Dxracer.

Long story short. I looked at both sites and had some trouble finding the sizing recommendations at Dxracer. When I did find them I didn't really like any of the styles that were available for my size which is around 5' 8" (172 cm) and 205 lbs (96 kg).

So I opted for the Maxnomic Classic Casual because it seemed like a decent fit as far as size went and I liked the diamond pattern on the seat pad and seat back of the chair. Other than that this was a touch of whim, not having actually set in one.

Where I now plant my rear

I paid $373 (338 Euros) and some change with shipping. It arrived quickly. 3 days IIRC. It was nicely boxed, came with clear assembly instructions, and had sturdy hardware and tools to do the assembly. Assembly went smoothly. All the holes were decently line up so no major fights there. You have to flip the chair over so you get a fairly through look at most of the components. The chair appears to be well made with nice stitching and no weird burrs or anything on the parts that I observed.

Once assembled all the levers and controls worked as advertised. I was quickly able to adjust the height and the arm rests to match my current desk. I started out with the included head rest and lumbar support attached and played a few games of League. Afterwards I ditched the lumbar support as I couldn't find a position where it felt comfortable for me.

The arm rests are a touch wiggly, but no more than I've noticed on some higher priced chairs with similar amounts of adjustability.

Side bolsters: Fit me pretty well. My shoulders are about 22" (56 cm) wide and my butt is about 17" (43 cm) wide, with my legs when seated being on the order of about 18" wide (46 cm). I think I would like about 1 more inch (2.54 cm) for my legs, but they aren't squeezed unduly.

The seating surface I would rate as firm. It only has a little squish to it. This feels nice on my back, but my keister would like a little more padding. After a long gaming session I notice some heat and some pressure on the line between my hips and my buttocks, but it doesn't rise to the level of discomfort, just noticeable. A mesh seat would probably help with the heat, but those tend to be had a much higher price point if you go with a good one that won't fall apart in no time.

For the price I am happy with the chair. It exceeded my expectations. In star terms I suppose that would put it at about a 4 of 5.

Note: I have no connection to Maxnomic. I just needed a chair for my desk and thought others might be interested in my experience.
