"@Scrax, again, the AD is just icing on the cake, I make use of it with Triforce and even get last hit kills with an AA, but the main purpose is to charge the passive quicker. Being able to hit hit the max 5-10 minutes quicker is priceless."

"Ryze doesn't thrive off of AP as much as he does mana, out of the three items (tear, MM, AA) Manamune allows you to accumulate mana at the fastest pace allowing you to reach your prime a lot faster, while improving you ability to farm and take down towers (since your AD>AP)."

"That is very true, however given my playstyle (utility counter) I'd rather survive and still deal damage mid game and not have to wait to late game.
Oh and as I stated in the other thread on this in Build/Guide Discussion, Manamune>Tear>Arch Angel's

Having Tear, BV, and Frozen Heart is core, in my opinion RoA is more situational since it does take 10 minutes to charge."
