Basic Jungle Rune Pages

Tank Runes:

These junglers only need attack speed and armor to jungle effectively giving them freedom of glyphs and quintessences. Because most tank want to be tanky and in your face, magic resist glyphs and movement speed quintessences are great to have.

Attack Speed Brawler Runes:
greater quintessence of desolation

These junglers only really need attack speed and armor to go through the jungle but need some extra armor penetration for ganking and jungle speed. Freedom of glyphs but magic resist glyphs help you against later casters and AoE magic damage.

Attack Damage Brawler Runes:
greater mark of desolation

These junglers need attack damage and armor to jungle. Because attack damage requires marks and quintessences, it only leaves freedom of glyphs. Magic resist is best for later casters and AoE damage. Switching out a few attack damage marks for armor penetration marks lets you deal more damage in the jungle and for ganks.

Ability Power Runes:

These champions are ability power based champions that can function in the jungle efficiently. They only really need armor and some ability power. So with this they get freedom of marks and glyphs. Because these champions are not supposed to be full tanks, magic penetration marks and ability power per level glyphs help them deal extra damage in ganks and late game.

Unique Rune Pages

Maokai Rune Page:

Maokai has a similar set up to other tanks, but he requires flat ability power quints to clear his jungle easier.

Amumu Rune Page:

Amumu doesn't need these runes to jungle, he just doesn't need the tank rune setup. All he needs is armor so giving him armor marks and seals benefits him greatly. Magic resist glyphs help him against magic damage and the avarice quintessences are just for some extra income.

Rammus Rune Page:
greater mark of desolation

Rammus runes similar to other jungle tanks, but instead of needing attack speed, he needs some armor penetration to go with his the attack damage he gains from his armor to attack damage passive.

Hecarim Rune Page:

Hecarim builds like other AD bruisers but replaces the attack damage quintessences with movement speed quintessences to go off of his passive movement speed to attack damage ratio. Although he has this ratio, you can still rune him like other AD bruisers.

Basic Jungle Routes

Blue Golem Start
This is the primary route for most champions. Every champion can take this route as it gives you early blue buff for champions like Fiddlesticks and Amumu who need it or will make the next one spawn earlier (around 7:15) for your mid lane to grab.

You want to start at wolves as they spawn at 1:40 (15 seconds before Blue Golem). If your lane mates can damage them, you take less damage and can make it to Blue Golem before it spawns. Next, you want to kill the Blue Golem using Smite unless you get a strong enough leash. You definetly want to get a leash (simple auto attack although can be more) from your mid lane as it lets you take less damage and you can kill the Golem faster.

Now with champions like Pantheon and Alistar with strong level 2 ganks, you can start ganking, but with every other champion, continue jungling with the wraith camp. If you are a stronger jungler like Udyr or Warwick, you can go straight to Red Lizard after wraiths without Smite, but for weaker champions like Nautilus and Jarvan IV you should go back to the wolf camp and clear them so you can get Smite back up for Red Lizard.

After Red Lizard either start ganking if you are a level 3 ganker like Udyr or Nocturne or you can clear wraith or double golem camp to hit level 4 then start ganking.

Red Lizard Start
This route is usually taken by strong pre-6 gankers like Nocturne or Dr. Mundo or mana-less champions like Shyvana or Riven.

You want to start at the wraith camp because they spawn at 1:40 (15 seconds before Red Lizard). Get a leash (simple auto attack although can be more) from your mid lane or other lane mates as it helps you take less damage and clear it faster. Now you can either gank with level 2 gankers like Dr. Mundo or Nocturne or you can take the double golem camp to hit level 3 for champions like Lee Sin or Riven.

After ganking, you want to get your Blue Golem so the next one will spawn as soon as possible. Giving it to your mid lane at this point could cost you some much needed experience, but if you are very ahead it can still be a good idea to give it to your mid lane.

After Blue Golem, you can either gank more, clear more of your jungle (wolves, wraiths) or go buy.
