Introduction
Poppy is a character that can be built in many ways. Its because he is not item reliant. Almost every items work well with her. Therefore, she is pretty funny to play. However, she must have a Trinity Force or a Lich Bane.
I am a lazy guy. I wont talk about runes, becauase they didnt make much difference. Almost every kinds of rune suit poppy, especially defensive runes. Defensive runes will be best for poppy. But it does not mean that other runes are bad.
Poppy is a perfect champion.
Whatever u build, Q Devastating Blow gives poppy nice damage output.
W Paragon of Demacia help poppy deal with AD champion and give her extra ad .
E Heroic Charge gives poppy a cc and an initiating skill.
R Diplomatic Immunity, her ulti, makes her shine.
Tryndamere can immune to damage for 5 seconds.
Kayle or one of her teamates can immune to damage for 3 seconds.
However, Poppy can immune to damage for 8 seconds (if u targeted the right person).
Passive Valiant Fighter helps her block large damage (ususlly magic damage). With her passive, she can deal with Graves, Veigar, Brand etc.
She is such a perfect champion. U can choose to horn her ability to tank, dps or support etc.
On the other hand, u can keep poppy balance, a balanced poppy can do every job in the team.
I have a dream, i wish riot can change her voice.
One day, a Demacian general named Florin Berell commissioned Blomgrun to craft a helm, glorious beyond comparison. Blomgrun toiled away on this project, determined to present Florin with his finest work. He let Poppy set the center jewel, entrusting her with the most important piece. When the pair finished, they departed for Demacia to deliver it in person. Word of the general's order, however, was leaked to the Noxian High Command, and two Noxian assassins were dispatched to intercept the delivery. Blomgrun was able to occupy the assassins long enough for Poppy to escape with the prized helm. She watched helplessly from the brush as her father was slain. Instead of fleeing home, she carried the helm the rest of the way to Demacia alone. She refused payment for it, saying that no amount would compensate for her father's life. Instead, she offered it as a gift, honoring her father's final intentions. Florin saw the grim determination behind the tears in her eyes, and requested that the leadership of Bandle City appoint Poppy as the yordle ambassador to Demacia. Soon after, seeking to crush Noxus with her father's hammer, Poppy volunteered for the League of Legends.
Poppy may be small, but Whomper - or her will - is not.
I will use only Greater Mark of Attack Speed, Greater Mark of Magic Penetration, Greater Mark of Desolation for marks.
Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed, greater Quintessence of vitality for quintssence.
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist for glyph.
Greater Seal of Armor, Greater Seal of Gold for seal.
Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed provide you with some lovely movement speed. Movement speed can help u for chasing and escaping which is vital for poppy.
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration provide u with magic penetration. They are good for poppy coz most of poppy's abilities deal magic damage.
But for AD poppy i recommend Greater Mark of Attack Damage which give some early AD. Some early AD can help with your last hit.
greater seal of resilence give u some armor. Armor can help u block physical damage which works well when u play solo top poppy and jungle poppy.
But for support poppy, i recommend Greater Seal of Gold. More gold yeah!!
Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist is most common that people use for glyph. Most champion is lacking in magic resist unless they build magic resist items such as Force of Nature. If u plan to build quite a lot magic resist items, u can use Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction. CDR is always good for poppy, make sure your CDR wont be more than 40%. Otherwise it will be a waste.
Then i will max Devastating Blow for the lower cd time and higher maximum damage.
Lastly, i will max Paragon of Demacia.
Of cause, i will put a point on Diplomatic Immunity(ulti) whenever i can.
Ghost(recommended for new poppy player) which can be used to escaping or chaseing.
Ignite(recommended when u are playing ap nuker poppy) some real damage and a healing reduction debuff. Ignite can deal more dsamage when you are using Diplomatic Immunity (40% more real damage from ignite?? WTF)
Exhaust(recommended when u are playing AD poppy) good for chasing enemies.
Clairvoyance(u may have some questions about why poppy needs Clairvoyance even she is not a support. First I have to tell u that cv is a good spell. Apart from this, u can use cv when people go into bushes. Then, u can use Heroic Charge immediately to quickly deal large amount of damage and stun them for 1.5 seconds. Therefore, feel free to take cv, even though u are not a support, if u need it.)
Heal (good spell. It can surprise your enemies and save u from a dangerous situation. Use it when u have less than 100 hp. It can let u absorb much more damage wif ur passive and bait your enemies.)
Cleanse(a good choice that can save your life, and it is buffed. It is recommended when u are ap poppy. You can take cleanse if u don't like Ignite. )
Smite(for jungler poppy only)
Other summoner spells are not recommended, but u csn still try them, just for fun lol.
Jungling poppy is good though. In this build, u will have Wriggle's Lantern which help your farming. jungling route is written on the jungler section at below.
Item
Trinity Force is important to poppy. Being an off tank, u should deal some damage to force people not to ignore u.
Some Situation items
Frozen Heart, Abyssal Mask (to deal with ap team), Guardian Angel , Atma's Impaler and Madred's Bloodrazor or the brand new Maw of Malmortius for more damage.
Also, u can change Mercury's Treads into Ionian Boots of Lucidity because cdr is always good for poppy to spam her Q Devastating Blow. But u may find that Malzahar, Cassiopeia, AP Teemo or any ap champion that is good at DOT can easily melt u. Its because your passive cant really block that damage and u have no magic resist during early game.
Team fight
Initiate-> ulti-> spam ur Q and E
Core
your core will be Lich Bane, Deathfire Graspand the others listed above r recommended. You can build Hextech Revolver into Hextech Gunblade or will of ths ancients.
It is better, because it has some AD and lifesteal that they can be used to farm. The active is just amazing! u can use it to break the active of Banshee's Veil before u start your combo. Otherwise you may be fail to kill him/her. Also, its active can slow your target which is very useful. Combining with your Paragon of Demacia, u can position yourself better to use your Heroic Charge.
It is recommended only when your team have a fed AP carry except u. And it is now nerfed. 40 ap and 8% spell vamp doesnt worth 1300 g.
Situation items
U can change Ionian Boots of Lucidity into Sorcerer's Shoes, although cdr is usually good for poppy. But it is just up to u.
For more survivability, u can take Guardian Angel, Rod of Ages, Abyssal Mask, Banshee's Veil, Athene's Unholy Grail or Frozen Heart.
You can take Void Staff if they stack magic resist.
If u found that u have mana problem ,i recommend u take the blue buff or take the Morello's Evil Tome.
Teamfight
U should use ur ulti at their tank or support, choose a squishy target and burst him/her down ( Diplomatic Immunity-> Paragon of Demacia-> Hextech Gunblade-> Deathfire Grasp-> heoric charge-> Devastating Blow )or You can use the active of Hextech Gunblade first if their support or tank have a Banshee's Veil. Then, You can spam ur Q and E.
I have chosen Boots of Swiftness to increase my mobility to aid my allies and to position well for my Heroic Charge. The fifth and sixth items are not core. I use Abyssal Mask and Frozen Heart for better survivability.
The fifth and sixth item
When your team are doing well u can build this:
zeke's herald when your team have a fed ad carry.
when your team have a fed ap carry.
If u find that your tank dies a lot and your team need one more tank, u may build this:

If u find that the carries arent fed enough. Your team need more damage output, u can be the dps. And u can build these:
(It provides both damage and survivability for u)

(nice item) It gives u AD, AP and also attack speed and it is quite cheap.
(It give u nice damage and survivability, due to the life steal and spell vamp. You can have an extra CC. The active can slow your target or break a teaget's banshee veil's shield)
(It works well with poppy. 2600G for 20% move speed, 50% attack speed, 15 armor penetration, 15% critical hit chance and 30 attack damage.)
(It has a nice passive. You may build it with Wit's End to deal some massive magic damage)
I take Hextech Gunblade instead of Bloodthirster. It is because I think Bloodthirsteris too risky, eventhough now u will only lose half of your stacks. And I really like the active of Hextech Gunblade. However, Bloodthirster is still a good item.
Some Situation items
for more survivability( armor, hp regen, good passive and active whichh reduce opponents' attack speed and move speed. )
(I'm not kidding, it has good cdr, attack speed and mana regen, its mana regen can let u activate ur Paragon of Demacia all the time, which greatly increase ur mobility.)
(good magic resist and lovely 8% move speed.
U have to start with Cloth Armor and pots x 5.
i found that starting with Vampiric Scepter isnt viable.
Jungling route
Wolf-> Blue buff(ask for a proper leash, or u will have only half of ur maximum health left)-> wraiths-> red buff-> twin golems-> recall back/wraiths/gank.
AD jungler poppy
Skill sequence
I max ulti firstly. Nothing to add.
I max Paragon of Demacia secondly, Its armor and attack damage bonus can improve your creeping speed. Move speed can help you to gank.
I max Heroic Charge lastly, its because it brings the least benefits.
You can totally max thirdly Devastating Blowfor a higher damage cap if your enemies are trying to stack hp.
Situation Items
Defensive
Guardian Angel, Force of Nature, Atma's Impaler, Maw of Malmortius, Banshee's Veil, Randuin's Omen, Mercury's Treads
Aggresive
Bloodthirster, Madred's Bloodrazor
Sometimes start with Null-Magic Mantle may be better than Regrowth Pendant, if u are laning againat ap champion.
It can be used to initiate, chase enemies, excape form dangerous situation, STUN prople etc.
Flash + Heroic Charge combo can be very useful.
Remember to buy some wards which will help u a lot. When u are escaping in jungle, u can put a ward at the place that u can see the neutral monsters and use Heroic Charge to target the neutral monsters. With this method u can pass through wall and terrain.
U can also ward bushes and use your Heroic Charge immediately to stun enemies in the bushes.
Remember to buy some pots every time u recall, combining with your passive, you can bait your enemies and the pots usually save your life.
U can use pots in every teamfight. They can give u more Hp regen during the teamfight. U are able to sbsorb more damage with lovey pots. It cost u only 35G, 35G may save your life. I usually use pots to survive the fxxking cheap ulti Requiem of Karthus.]
Pls remember your passive Valiant Fighter can't block true damage and DOT.
