Given all of Parasyte's hype I actually really really hated the character developement of the main protag. The pacing of that was complete balls. It felt really underdeveloped, although the rest of the story is interesting.

I'm also very disappointed with Tokyo Ghoul root a. I thought they'd develop more on the aogiri side, but it's looking the end the same way as the manga did (which had a ****ty ending). I hope they change something T.T

That's why I didn't like the Parasyte anime at the beginning.
Things went down so fast, main protagonist developed way to fast (and he wasn't just some loner whimsy ****ter like most MCs to begin with).
Then suddenly slow the **** down.
Like going for a full stop break while being 200km/h on the highway, cause of this ****ing Kana-arc?

lolol I felt like Tokyo Ghoul had a lot of potential and was going down the right path in terms of their focus on human nature, but it got really cheesy and came out looking really dumb

Not really. It was bad right from the start. The start of the story is paced horribly and the author doesn't seem to understand several basic concepts of storytelling..

The first two episodes of the tokyo ghoul anime were paced nicely imo. Kaneki's inner struggle was actually super believable and the scene where he was chugging food down his throat desperately, culminating with him trying to pierce a knife through his stomach was especially powerful and well placed.

The rest of the show, however.... yeah, no.

I actually watched most of the first two episodes, because I like giving things a chance before dismissing them (don't anybody tell me that I'm being unfair..).
The anime was better than the manga, but it was still just about decent during those two episodes.
And the whole knife-to-stomach thing is just utterly ridiculous, along with many other parts of the story in general, but I would be willing to suspend my disbelief if the story was any good..

It wasn't really ridiculous when you think about it though - he knows ghouls are very resilient and wouldn't get pierced by something as simple as a kitchen knife, so to verify that he doesn't only have a taste disorder he tries to test it out. I think it was quite a well placed scene, since it shows the level of his desperation and unwillingness to accept what is happening to him without going into an inner monologue that lasts 3 episodes :D

Oh and the story isn't exactly what I would call good - it's entertaining at times and sometimes shows itself in a decent light but definitely not worth watching unless you like the gore-ish shounen type of thing

It wasn't flatout horrible.
Searz, your comments can't be taken seriously, same for my comments about SAO/Guilty Crown/Steins:Gate/Accel World/Black Bullet (wow that's alot).

First off the idea was quite interesting and the beginning got me into the manga until the last 1/3 of the story. Not using myself as a judgement standard, but the storytelling is enough to keep someone reading.

In fact, I even know some long time anime watchers/manga readers that totally didn't like SNK cause of the storytelling to begin with, tho they also missed out on the hype.

So just telling us the storytelling is terrible won't really convince anyone that the manga all around is **** aswell.

Oh that's not a problem at all. The problem is the logical inconsistencies this introduces.
I don't know if you've noticed, but skin and flesh is soft, at least when compared to metal. If skin and flesh were to be reinforced to the point of resisting both the sharp point of a blade and the blunt force of the blow then it would be complete nonsense for it to function the same as normal skin in every other instance.
It doesn't need to make sense in relation to the real world since this is fiction, obviously, but it needs to be consistent with established logic, which it is not. It is simply a lazy cop-out.

Oh, don't get me wrong. It's a good scene story-wise, but it's a terrible scene in regards to world-building and logical consistency.
