So your are complaining about supernatural stuff in a fiction anime while admitting that it is obviously fiction?

Ghoul skin is meant to be harder than human skin and thus not able to be cut by human means.

I could keep going with one of your favorites and say that Titan skin works the same unless you hit the back of the neck, so they also don't function the same :^)

Allow me to quote my previous comment:
"It doesn't need to make sense in relation to the real world since this is fiction, obviously, but it needs to be consistent with established logic, which it is not. It is simply a lazy cop-out."

Well, not really. There are several unique traits to their skin and it's similar but not the same as normal skin. But regardless, it is established logic. The reason the neck is a weak spot is really quite logical as it is a good place to connect to the central nervous system, and I'm not gonna mention the obvious reason it's a weak-spot due to spoilers.

I, and I guess some others, still fail to see the flaw in the logic aswell as its consistency?
And how it is a lazy cop-out? It's never really used to explain some stupid guy surviving cause of reasons.

If I remember correctly it was mostly used to amplify the meaning of Ghouls being inhuman.
So why is a Titan allowed to have these traits when a Ghoul doesn't? Both are fictional beings.

I will say it again, your comments are the same as mine about SAO or other overhyped shounen trash out there.

But your reasoning for it being bad is only the bad storytelling (which honestly can't be that horrible if it got to the point of anime adaption) and inconsistency with the logic of supernatural beings.

You are also someone who reads alot of mangas, so I guess you sometimes ranomdly pick up mangas that seem interesting or just cause you are bored. And there are alot of cases that would really call for bad storytelling.

^there are inconsistencies, though. I'm gonna use some examples so be warned of spoilers.

Ghouls get cut extremely easily by other ghouls and their RC cell forms (whatever the **** those tendrils were called) which is still plausible to some extent, but they also got screwed over by the suitcases of the doves? Not even the weapons inside them, just the suitcases. And that contraption Jason used to torture Kaneki, I suppose it was purposefully made to be able to harm ghouls but it seemed as if it was cutting through Kaneki's limbs way too easily since it didn't dull after god knows how many times his fingers were cut off...

Needless to say, I don't think it was THAT far fetched since ghoul skin hasn't been shown to be easily cut in any other instance bar the aforementioned.
Thanks to Koksei for the sig!

Oh lol. It is used to explain some stupid guy surviving: the protagonist. If not for that he'd be dead with a knife-wound to the stomach. Also, you gotta be pretty ****ing stupid to try hitting the stomach first of all places and not a less lethal area. That or it's just another instance of bad storytelling, but I'm willing to chalk it up to the protag being a ****ing ******.

Really? Really? Are you ****ing kidding me? Are you not aware of the utter horse-**** that get anime adaptations?
One of the worst series I've ever read got an anime adaptation. It's called Pupa and it's mindbogglingly bad with only one single redeeming aspect (the bears).

Of course there are, but other series with story problems or inconsistency problems at least have other redeeming qualities. Tokyo Ghoul simply doubles down on the serious nature of the story and fails completely. I've read plenty of series with loads of inconsistent logic (far more than Tokyo Ghoul), but most of them don't try to be dark and serious.

I might be making a bigger deal out of it than really is needed, but this is just one of a plethora of problems with the series.
The fact that it goes balls-deep with the whole dark edgy theme while executing it poorly is what makes it so bad. I can read bad lighthearted series no problem, but when something bad tries to be dark and serious it just takes away all the fun in reading it.

After all this "trashing" on animes from Searz I'm starting get really interested in what he considers a great anime.
Probably somewhere to be found in this thread but way too many pages to even bother looking for it.

I've proudly entitled myself as an anime noob guru with abouth 10ish animes under my belt. So now I'll get myself a cup of coffee and wait for Searz to name at least one anime that will blow my mind.

I think you are trying too hard to see the series as something it seemingly trys to be, but honestly it's just a shounen that is a bit darkish.

Let's just say, I never thought about it being dark or trying to. As it was just a shounen with a character going full ****** cause he is becoming something he and the society he lives in have feared for a long time.

Obviously, I know that some animes out there totally do not deserve to even have an anime adaption.
But they still get, it has to be for something. An in case of TG it's just the same for any other shounen.

I am not here trying to protect the series, as I myself did not enjoy the last 2/3 to 1/3 of it.
It's just simply obvious that you are hating on it like I do on SAO, as you said yourself that you are maybe making this a bigger deal as it is.

What I get from your last post is that most if your dislike towards TG is the series trying to be dark and serious.
I think before in this thread, we already had a discussion about this where I mentioned that the darkness/seriousness in TG is probably aimed at a younger audience.
An audience that would feel more adult by watching something seemingly serious and gore-ish/dark.

I think you guys think too much. I didn't even pay attention to the knife thingy until you mentioned it. I had to go back to the episode to remember it but even then I was like "k, that happend" and moved on.

People have different preferences for enjoying :P

Some people simply enjoy watching; others enjoy good stories.

Personally don't look into too much details and just watch, but sometimes when stories get too cheesy or dramatic I cringe.
