I consider my main roles to be support and jungler. I got into supporting in the usual fashion, I didn't really know how to trade or last hit properly and the other positions were usually taken, leaving support open.
I enjoy the utility of the position: warding, poking, peeling, healing, CCing, engaging. While usually not as mechanically intensive as ADCing, it really does require a lot of game knowledge to do it well.
And this.
The one ADC that tells you are the god of supports and you made them feel like a godlike ADC. Winning! :-)
After getting a handle on supporting, I moved into the jungle, which is another position that can offer a lot of utility and requires even more game knowledge than support. You have to make a lot of assessments on the fly and also do a lot of planning to make sure you are at the right places at the right time. The later part I'm still working on getting better at.
Lately I've been spending some time in top and as ADC and very occasionally mid. My last hitting, trading, and warding are getting better, so I have a chance of winning my lane and being a force in later parts of the game.
The upshot I think is that finding your spot can be a process that takes some time. Try all the positions out and as you gain more knowledge of the game and the various champions and their capabilities you can decide where you fit the best and if you find yourself bored, you can learn another role more thoroughly.
I too have noticed that that there are a lot of active support players at Mobafire. Then it clicked. As supports are the type of people that want to make other people better so it makes perfect sense that they would find and foster a community like Mobafire.

I ended up maining support because that would be the role left open the most often since everyone else always wanted roles that would get them the "spotlight". I eventually grew to really love the role despite all of the mean ADCs you sometimes would have to deal with. But for every 10 jerks, you get that one person that compliments you and calls you a god whenever you make an amazing play and really appreciates what you do and that's one of the best feelings in the game <3

Guess I'll explain for both roles I have mained:
1. Support: none of my friends enjoyed the role when we started playing, I did. Allowing others to carry a fight by peeling for them properly feels incredibly rewarding imo, even more so than being that carry who ends up getting the kills.
2. Top: at the end of season 2, I was looking for something new because I had simply played support too often / for too long. The fact I chose top was mainly down to liking
Lee Sin a lot back then, though I also quite like the "1v1 island" feel of it. If you're having trouble in top lane, no one's going to throw you a lifebuoy to help you out, you're toast. It can be rough, it can be frustrating, but ultimately it's also what got me hooked. Oh, and I quite like being tanky while still being able to deal damage.

Theres some interesting stories on how you got into a role, I also didn't think there would be so many replies and I thank you for it :) I do now realise that I enjoy getting kills and out thinking my opponents to win, I also seem to be able to carry some times if my team is behind.
Levy: What level are you? How do you rate your general skill level and play style? I am a Bronze IV player with less than 300 combined Normal/Team Builder/Ranked wins on two accounts (started about a year ago).
I started League playing ADC because it was safe...ranged and do a bunch of damage with a simple right click...then I realized that things get harder as ADC when you move on from easy bots. I started playing support for a variety of reasons. This was partially because I really liked

So I “main” support and jungle. I like to think I am a pretty solid with

TL;DR: Find champions and roles that fit your skills and play style...and adapt as these change (and the meta shifts).

I take the role I'm best in in bed and that's jungle.

This build is Platinum approved, Thats all you need to know

You NEED to know at least two other roles decently. There's not a single person in the world who ALWAYS gets their role, ranked or normals, Unless you only play exclusively team builder it will never happen. That is why I suggest learning another lane as well.
I've seen people steal roles in teambuilder
