the fact that he can get to challenger says something about his skill level and knowledge of the game.
if climbing to challenger with one champion isn't regarded as being a good player then I don't know what should be considered good
regardless age means nothing

So if people's rank is a true reflection of their skill level then by that reasoning --- if you took a silver player and threw them into a platinum ranked game, it would doom their team.
I would love to test that theory. I'm currently ranked silver 2 but I doubt anybody would notice if I was playing jungle in a plat III game.
Would that be possible to test in teambuilder? If a Platinum level ELO formed a team with 3 other plats and 1 silver, would they get matched against a 5 man plat team on the other side?

They wouldn't get matched up against that, no.
And, there's quite a lot of difference between those two ranks, especially in the jungle. Like how to defend against invades, when to go for dragon/baron, how to invade. Etc.
