I have never had an ambition to be a police officer, though during high school I had the notion that I'd join the navy. That would have been a completely different life :P The reason why I don't like the idea of myself being a cop is the danger involved. I help society in a safe environment (though really, which one has longer hours, more frustration and worse clients? Cops or teachers? :P).
