Yes, I'm somewhat distant toward this, but have you ever seen a blind man an optician before? Or can you say a PTSD veteran and a raped child share the same point of view? You have your problem, it may means you're familiar, but in the same way you've said I don't know anything about you, you're equally oblivious to the entirety of others pain, don't say it like you know it.

To sum up the point I've demonstrated, the challenged aren't the only one scratching their heads over this.
2nd, since we can't impose a standard of moral easily and wholesomely, we settle for a code of conduct instead, which is somewhat dumb, and practical(netiquette for example).
3rd, those who find it necessary aren't happy and those who don't also don't mind, not just because it's limited in topics, but because it is widely done already, through the title, law and disclaimer.
I've also expressed doubt whether trigger warning helps more than it hurts, but seeing how you've been adamant about your experience for handling your problem gives you authority in this matter(solve it yourself), I'll concede and be quiet instead.

It sounds ridiculous to you because many people on the internet like to pretend that other people's feelings don't exist or matter and would like to think they can do whatever the **** they want no matter who is effected by it. That doesn't make your point fair or reasonable, we've chosen to act that way about it. There's nothing wrong with including disclaimers (just gonna stop using the phrase trigger warning, it sounds dumb and is unnecessarily specific) for sensitive content, or really any content you wouldn't usually expect (e.g. jacksfilms deciding to create a video with good content 8D), so people CAN avoid it if they want to.

In the real world when you know someone who has a problem with blood, you don't show up at their Halloween party dressed as one of Jack the Ripper's victims complete with fake blood everywhere unless you're a total ****.

Just because YOU don't feel like you should treat people with common decency because "this is the internet" doesn't mean the rest of the world has to agree with you.

it sounds ridiculous because the needs of the few shouldnt get in the way of the manys life

if it was the person that isnt ok with blood through the halloween party youd think that person would you know tell people "hey im having a party but please no bloody or gory costumes" and if they dont then its their fault for expecting everyone to suit their needs on a holiday where dressing up like that is regarded as an ok thing to do in most cases

the thing is the person with the problem needs to be the responsible one and look out for things that could possibly trigger them (dont watch a video about dieting if you have a thing about weight numbers) and should accommodate for themselves rather than have everyone else accommodate them for their special problem and lack of better judgement

Can't avoid content if you don't know about it. I've said several times now that in obvious situations it's largely unnecessary.

and that goes back to my point of the needs of the few shouldnt get in the way of the manys life

just because a few people dont like blood doesnt mean that they need to put a disclaimer in their video, maybe the content maker is doing it for shock/entertainment value and doesnt want to ruin it for the other people that are ok with blood (this goes back to the video searz posted about the bee guy making the comic book)

creativity shouldnt be held back because a few people dont like what they see

Yea...It takes virtually no effort, nor limits one's creativity in any way, to add a disclaimer to something, just saying.

Didn't follow the discussion but the problem with disclaimers is that in no time you'll have to put on a disclaimer for about 1000 separate things people may be offended with.

"This video contains content that may be disturbing to some viewers, watch at your own discretion." or the like will pretty much work in 90% of situations.

in case you missed that part of my post, a disclaimer could potentially take out the shock value and possibly the entertainment value of some content, and saying it takes no effort to remember to put a warning for the very few people that want it on every single video someone makes is wrong and you know it

the bottom line is people shouldnt feel forced to change what they do because a small number of people dont like it, yes if someone puts in a warning/disclaimer because they felt the need to is fine but should they really be made to look like the bad guy because they didnt put one in and someone didnt like what they said in their own video?
