Hi I'm Shydon and im diamond V in league. If you know about the lp/mmr bug in D5 then you know how frustrating it is to play. So I took a break for a couple days and I have played very minimal amounts over the last while but I feel like I'm not good and can't improve anymore. I played a couple ranked games and I just played like absolute garbage receiving expected flame and trash talk which I totally understand but its kind of worrying to me that I played bad and I feel like I can never get to where I was before. Even if I play normals I feel like I just bring my teams down all the time even if i don't feed or even die because I just feel so useless. I don't think I will ever get good again so if anyone can try to help me through this I would be very thankful ._.

1. Stop giving a **** about winning or losing ranked.

2. Dodge champ select until you reach -100 LP, which is the cap, to help you get into the mindset of not giving a ****.

3. Whenever you win your way back up, dodge again to make sure you're near -100 LP at all times.

By intentionally setting yourself back in LP you'll get into the mindset that it doesn't really matter whether you win or lose seeing as you're just playing purely for fun at that point. If you keep doing that for a while, you'll hopefully be playing under no pressure. If you're worried about your teams reacting negatively to any bad performances, type /muteall at the beginning of each game. And by holding your LP back through dodges no matter how much you win, it gives your MMR time to catch up to your LP/division, without getting upset and tilting about how you're only gaining 10 LP and losing 30 or however much you lose. When you lose games at a negative LP value, you don't actually lose any more LP, so losing hopefully won't affect you much.

So just play for fun, you'll improve naturally, just make sure you keep playing because the only way to improve is with practice. By doing the above you should hopefully prevent tilting if that was an issue for you, and ranked will be as stress-free for you as normals are, with the added benefit of still competing against the best players you can and therefore improving faster. You can stop the whole dodging thing when your LP gains become normal again, like when you gain +16 to +18 per win.

Exactly how long does it take to dodge oneself down to -100 lp anyways?

Might try that myself, because I get easily frustrated by losses, no matter where I play. I don't go on tilt, but I refuse to play often enough, which isn't any better.

It'd probably take a few hours because of queue times after dodging.

thank you jhoijhoi for the signature <3

-3 LP for the first dodge of a day, -10 for every other dodge in the next 24 hours (and dodging resets the 24 hour timer). If you're at 0 LP, you'll need to dodge 11 games in champion select, which is 306 minutes, in other words, you'll have to go through approximately 5 hours of dodge timers. You can just do it at any point where you don't feel like playing League, or if you do want to play League but not necessarily ranked, you can dodge a game, log into another account, play 1 game, switch accounts and dodge again, etc.

If you have other stuff to do it won't feel like long at all. :P

Wow, do people really get this depressed over League ranked?

Makes me glad I go outside now.

Also, I think the levels of immorality in this thread are astounding. You'd really throw a child off a boat for your own luggage? Wow.

I call it Perfectionitis. Happens to a lot of people. You were (And probably still are) very good at the game (Apparently significantly better than me :P), and you knew you were good. You're in Diamond, so you've basically mastered the mechanical stage of the game, and now you're perfecting your micro managing and smaller more objective based things. So that's what you focus on. You focus on the small things. You look to see every mistake everyone makes, even yourself, and in your mind you correct those mistakes. This is your minds way of improving. You focus on and correct the small things. You see mistakes and you take a mental note of what NOT to do, as it was a mistake. As you notice mistakes you think about them. You focus on them, and either pay for them or gain from them depending on which team made the mistake. You correct them, and make sure not to make that mistake. You've mastered the large majority of mechanical issues for the champions you play, and so they have become second nature to you. You don't think about it. You just know. You basically are that champion. You're mind does not give those types of concepts the light of day, because they are nature for you. It's an instant reaction. You don't need to focus on that part, unlike someone in my elo would need to do. So instead of focusing on the mechanics, you focus on the deeper subjects. You focus on the objectives and micro managements. This is what you notice, and this includes mistakes. So you see the mistakes, and that's all you see. This makes you FEEL like you're playing worse, when in reality, you're actually improving, maybe just not at the same rate you were. You've started to plateau, but in this game that means perfection. This is what I call "Perfectionitis". You want to be perfect, you want to improve, so all you notice is mistakes, and that makes you feel like you're doing worse, because all you see is your mistakes.

Now I'm just a Bronze IV player, and I really need to work on a lot of the mechanical parts of the game, but I notice my mistakes a lot more often than I should and it makes me feel like I'm completely worthless. I would love for someone to coach me, but I'm not paying to improve at a video game, so I'm on my own with this. Basically what I'm trying to say is, I understand what you're going through, and I can explain why you feel that way.

Now you may actually be playing worse, but that doesn't change how your mind is thinking. You're still improving. Just give it time, take some breaks, only play normals, and relax as a way to take the stress out of the game. Ranked can make it very stressful, and sometimes you just need to relax and play some normals just to have fun, rather than focus purely on improving.

Even though i'm level 30 now, I only have like ... 138 wins or so. I'm nowhere near the experience I need to start doing Ranked matches especially because I am still unsure who to really use in those kinds of games. However, I will say this- I like LoL because it's really unique with how they've handled each character. None feel the same with me, and you're totally allowed to make whatever kind of build you want with said character.

For example, I main Mythic Cassiopeia ... and despite I am nowhere near mastering her, she's still super fun for me. Got my good games, bad games, but it's how you handle criticism that matters. I've been flamed on non stop, and others threatening to report me but I simply move on and not argue back. I don't even feed, I just have bad games sometimes with 6 and 12 (Zigs wrecked me one time, eghh ...)

Other times i'll get 19 and 4 with her. It depends on whom i'm facing and how well my team manages. Just remember it's a game, and be proud you made it to Diamond ^_^ so many would only dream of reaching there. Someday, I plan to but i'm still somewhat new to LoL.

Don't let anyone discourage you from playing. Keep at it and remember why you joined the community in the first place to enjoy what LoL had to offer ^_^
Never give up on your Champion ... always keep trying.
