we aren't telling you that reviews are the most important thing. What we are saying, or at least, What I am saying is that you wait a little, take a good hard look at gameplay from the people who bought the game already and might be streaming it or recording it for youtube and determine if you like it. Now if it is something incredibly story driven and you don't want to be spoiled then by all means take whatever path you want.

Example: arkahm knight got released, lets say you pre-ordered it and found out it was laggy and horrendously buggy, ok. well you wasted money on it, until they fix it. Lets say now you didn't pre-order it, you find out from some youtube channels, like machinima for example which covered it a few times on release, that it is horrendously laggy and buggy. You see a streamer/youtuber who got the game working fine (a streamer i know of in my case) and you see some of the gameplay, maybe ask a few questions about it. You hear from some of those previous news things that the game was pulled until fixed, (i think that is what happened?) This seems like a good sign, clearly the devs want to make sure it's fixed. Did you like the gameplay? even if the person you were watching didn't? Do you want to put the money into it when it comes back since hopefully it will be fixed? If so then you made a good, INFORMED decision.

I'm in no way doubting your ability to determine for yourself if you will like a product. If you have a knack for it then more power to you. I'm just trying to point out there are ways to make an informed decision other than just looking at it for yourself without consulting something with an open mind and a grain of salt.

I like learning, and I like theory crafting ideas from bad ones to make them into good ones and expand upon bad things to make them good things. I have no intention of having my gaming experience barred by this phrase. "This looks intriguing, I guess I better go and see if Greg Miller likes it." I would rather buy a game from a studio that was know for releasing sup-bar games that are kind of glitchy than any Nintendo made game you can throw on a shelf, or any high rated game by steam reviews. Because, **** Super Meat Boy. I hate that game.

This is exactly the reasons why you don't pre-order, LOOOOOOOL.

You wait until the release of the game. You take a look at other people's experience with the game, whether they like it or it has glaring errors. You do your research and find out as much about the game as possible if you're intrigued by it. Heck, maybe a friend of yours (however unlikely you may have friends) got the game and you can try it for a bit to get a feel of it. You try it and decide that you want to buy it for yourself. And, hey presto! You don't get troubled by having to refund pre-orders and nor do you have to put 2 hours into the game before you decide you don't like it.

But hey, if you want to buy glitchy sub-par games, you go right ahead and do that; you pre-order the **** out of those glitchy sub-par games and validate that it's okay to create only glitchy sub-par games, because that totally makes sense.

If you want a good rule of thumb on which platform you should buy a game for. Buy it for the platform it's being shown most on and make sure the gameplay shown has variety to it and isn't the same kind of gameplay every time. And, pay attention to how many cinematic trailers get released.

Or, just wait for reviews.

Skyrim, that's cute. An overrated peasant's game.

That's it, you've stepped over the line.

Agreed with Rotted there.

Secondly and most importantly, stop attacking people for their preference, holy ****. There are people who love Skyrim. There's people who hate it and there's literally everything in between. But just because someone loves it, Vanilla or modded, doesn't make them any less of a gamer. And most certainly not a peasant, lol. Like, Skyrim in on every console other than Nintendo's iirc. Since you use them, does that make you a peasant too?

Then he probably shouldn't be such an easy pick at that kind of thing. It would easy to ignore him, all he had to do was stop posting while he thought he was ahead.

Bolding the important part there. If it was so easy to ignore him, why didn't you?

Begone peasant.

@Janitsu: Then show me some real meat, tell me you've beaten The Last of Us on Survival Mode, that you beat a Souls game without dying. Tell me that you have over 100 hours playing Final Fantasy VII alone, or that you level capped every expansion in World of Warcraft. I don't wanna hear about that Skyrim garbage.

A person that plays video games for their own personal enjoyment and opinion and the willingness to discover new content on their own. It doesn't matter that BigBoxGamer thinks the game you like is bad, what matters is that you like it as a gamer.

Ironic.

I wonder if you've even played it? The mods available on it are endless. You talk of discovery, but you're actually literally just all talk. You go back on something you said literally 10 minutes ago.

I beat Last of Us on Survival Mode and easily played over 100 hours on FFVII over a decade or so ago when it released. Don't have Dark Souls, though.

I find it really funny that a Summoner who can't even make it out of Bronze is talking to us about skill in games.
