1 thing that nearly nobody noticed about Akali: Her E has a freaking 1 second cooldown at max rank and deals physical damage, nobody expects Akali to deal nearly only physical damage. It also has a total AD scaling.
2 new things: Way higher base damage through
Thunderlord's Decree
and trinkets can no longer reveal her.

1- Who the **** cares
2- People used pink wards most of the time except in later teamfights and they just got cheaper
3- Please for the love of god level your Q and only do your theory builds in normals

I think soraka is still strong in soloqueue - riot just made it easier to catch out poorly positioned soraka players.

I agree. I just played her a few times today and she seemed fine. The changes seem basically designed to prevent people from spamming Q from a long distance. The added mana cost to the W never stopped me from healing. It just meant I needed to be more selective about when I used my Q, since I didn't have as much mana to work with during the early laning phase. This didn't bother me since I always built

i've played top lane akali, but tank akali? thats silly
How about stripper akali?

Again, where the hell would you call the build I supposed tank Akali? So basically every champion in the game is a tank if he just buys 2 defense items and rest offensive?
Fighter Akali is the only term that would be fitting.

Bruiser Akali! Like bruiser Fizz! And we all love bruiser Fizz right?

Basically MOBAFire.
Another way how to explain why bruiser akali can work:
Step 1: Akali has, as we all know, high base damages as strength, but no defense and energy problems are her weakness.
Step 2: If you get more tankyness, you can stay in the fight longer and because of that use your E more often because you can also regenerate energy while fighting.
Step 3: If you go for that more tanky route, you will max E first, because that is your highest consistant damage. Now, if you max E first, putting points into Q is worthless as it deals near to no damage and only costs energy.
Step 4: In later stages of the game, you will slowly start to feel that your damage drops off, at that time, you can start buidling damage and you have enough tankyness already to stay in the fight long enough to use your spells as often as possible and profit from your still rather high base damages.

I had a tank akali in my game the other day. The guy did well though.
I understand why ad or bruiser akali can work. But i still think full tank is a bit weird
