Hello TiltedSupport,

The guide is helpful a lot but I am a little bit concerned about the build. There is neither Redemption, nor Knight's Vow in it. I really think that Thresh as a support champion should have these items. Redemption will help the whole team while Knight's Vow will secure Thresh's adc. They are much better than Randuin's Omen and Warmog's Armor, at least in my opnion.
Please tell me why you have chosen Randuin's Omen and Warmog's Armor over Redemption and Knight's Vow

Hi monimakaroni,

I agree that Redemption will help with the teamfighting phase, but in this current meta with more assassins (eg Rengar, Talon), your carries might die even before you can use Redemption. It is useful, if the enemy team comp doesn't have a one shotting threat.

As for Knight's Vow, the effect isn't as effective since Thresh is ranged. Personally, I have tried the Knight's Vow build and i feel like the peel that Randuin's Omen provides is a lot better since I tend to stick with both carries a lot and the 15% slow is better in my opinion. Knight's Vow would be better on supports such as Braum, who can utilize its passive better.

I build Warmog's Armor in the case of a teamfight that ends with me and 1 or 2 teammates alive, I am able to regen most of my health when out of combat to help in warding objectives, and not be 1 shotted by the enemy who could be looking for more picks before starting the objective. Of course, Warmog's Armor isn't the only choice for alternative builds, but this is one that I personally like. Alternatively, you could replace Warmog's Armor with redemption as you mentioned.

All in all, it all boils down to your playstyle as a Thresh.

Hope this answers your question :)

Hi, thanks for the guide as a support player, can you please consider why don't you basically pick Mobility Boots since it seems better and also main item of Thresh, yet not sure how players are supposed to choose between Ancient Coin and Relic Shield both are useful but not sure, also Courage of the Colossus seems better because of shields don't you think? Every adc has not had some sort of attack speed battery like Ezreal, Kalista also taking 9x Greater Seal of Health seems more effective why you take 5% cdr from runes I don't get it, it will be wasted at late game even doesn't it? Thanks btw Death Sentence tips were really useful ^^ Can you share your plans about guide, I think we need more detailed Thresh guides in moba, it would be nice to see another in-depth one since Thresh is really hard do play -interactive complex support I need a few more guides to understand him even after 7lvl master ._. Still not sure If I should buy Redemption on Thresh or not lul :*

It will be beneficial if you purchase Mobility Boots if you intend to roam a lot in the early game, but Ionian Boots of Lucidity is more for laning, since you'll be able to throw more skill shots in lane. It provides the early CDR since your Death Sentence has a decently high CD before it's maxed.

To be honest, choosing between Relic Shield and Ancient Coin is purely based on your playstyle as a Thresh player. Relic Shield is better for in lane sustain and for all ins since it is quite forgiving due to the extra HP and healing charges. Ancient Coin is more towards catching out the opponent's mistakes and mis-positions. It provides you the additional mana regen, which is helpful if your ADC is a poke based ADC.

Courage of the Colossus is a lot better if you opt for the face of the mountain since the shield also scales with your max HP. However, my build focuses mainly on building resistances (AR/MR), which means my shield will pale in comparison to a Thresh that goes face of the mountain. Also, to get a larger shield, you will almost always need to burn a Flash for a multiple man Flay, which you can only do when your Flash is up, another reason to purchase Ionian Boots of Lucidity as it provides CD on your summoner spells.

Greater Seal of Health is not a bad choice in lane since it allows you to play more aggressively with the additional poke that you can take. However, since Thresh does not have base armour, and I go for Quintessence of Cooldown Reduction, I would have to take the additional armour. As for my choice of quints, I like running CDR since Ancient Coin gives me 5% more CDR. Even at level 1, I will have 10% CDR, which allows me to throw more Death Sentence in lane. Usually, at the end of the game (35 min), you will not be fed enough to just reach 40% CDR, unless your 4th item is Frozen Heart which gives 20%, while I have 10% from Ionian Boots of Lucidity, 10% from talisman of ascension, 5% from runes: total of 25% without Frozen Heart

As for the direction of the guide, I will take all feedback I can get from the discussions and improve it as much as I possibly can.

Hopefully this has answered all your questions :)

Cheers, TiltedSupport

KK thanks again, I have tried 10% cdr bonus from runes as it allows us to reach cdr cap more easily, I find that somehow disturbing due to lost stats of magic resistance can be deadly against Ziggs, Zyra because even its not a big deal 12-15 mr, but that stops most 'true damage'' of magic dealers that built early Liandry's Torment and Sorcerer's Shoes and blocking way of true damage alike magic damage is invaluable since you won't be able to build solari in a healthy way at early game that speedy, however Ionian Boots of Lucidity seems nice alongside with talisman of ascension since passive 20% speedup also closes lack of Mobility Boots, but still I can find only rare situations for Talisman since 950 HP is very solid and important,

I have also tried other stonething bornthing yet I didn't find it that useful since build focusing on taking def, received healing is like nothing and had to be procced by 4 followed AAs, yet as a season 4-5 thresh player building tanky was most casual things on these days, but nowadays I see Thresh players even building Mikael's Blessing with Redemption, FoTM and other support items :D

Sorry I forgot to mention the main reason of comment~ since Thresh is a support, he will usually be going to take similar items unlike most of the top lane champions, his build can sometimes overcap cdr which is not nice, thanks, still faster summoner spells nicely to have but sometimes I really feel the lack of Exhaust, extra slow damage debuff can be useful even in dive, team fights, 2v2 and many examples, however, Ignite really helped me to ensure many many kills until now while playing Thresh its really good for him but what do you think really about Exhaust? ^^ Sorry that was a long comment thou.

Hey TiltedSupport,

This is realy halpful guide about Thresh. But is it better to get Face of the Mountain insted of Talisman of Ascension? Because i think Thresh need to be more tank... Anyway thank you so much cuz i see you have spent a lot of your time to make this guide.

face of the mountain provides you with a decent amount of HP and a shield, while talisman of ascension provides you with armour and a speedup for you team.

Personally, because I like to play the tank for the backline, I prefer giving myself tanky stats to be able to soak up more damage. While the shield from face of the mountain can help with that, there is no synergy between the shield and the Unyielding mastery.

Also, the speed up from talisman of ascension can help you carries kite their threats better.

Furthermore, an AOE heal from Redemption could work better than face of the mountain single target shield.

Hope this answers your question :)
