The problem is, what if they escape? Then you just fed the enemy and let them get away.
It's a pretty ballsy tactic, one that'd be a hell of a lot of fun in a normal game, but otherwise it's not quite viable.
But, if you try it and it works, tell us how it goes :P

I could somewhat see a strong backdoor champ doing this IF gold was the only thing to take in account. But you also give away XP, which eventually makes the other team so strong they can solo 2 (hell, even 3) of you.

Yeah I suppose XP gain could be an impacting factor, although by having your lanes farming at all times and not focusing on killing enemy champs except for the one that you are feeding you are going to earn a lot of gold and maintain a very stead XP gain. I think I might try this tonight or maybe on the weekend.
If anyone is interested let me know... I'm happy to be the feeder.

XP is a factor for both sides - the fact is, you'll have one underfarmed character. Both teams will have super-fed champions, and in the resulting 4v5, you're probably gonna lose. The issue of actually taking down a Legendary champion is another issue - you have to be really confident you can kill them, and if that's the case, you could probably win the game normally anyway.

Not necessarily Jebus. In a 4v5 situation everyone will target the one fed person (which will be a squishy with little to no survivability as by being the feeder you can choose who becomes fed on the other team) then it's 4 fed champs vs 4 underfed.
This does work and I have experienced this first hand, although my experience was just a bit different. Had a ryze that would just run down middle to die. I was playing as tryndamere at the time and just farmed for my items, only going for a kill if the enemy went legendary or I caught them out of position. Wound up going 32/3/7, single handedly carrying the team by taking advantage of this. Coincidentally this was a game where I went hybrid Tryn.

Maybe this is why my team won so hard even though I once fed using my AP TF build.
Fed 21 times, but thanks to another person with Clairvoyance, we ganked at Baron 3 times, and got tons of 500~1k killing spree enders, and pushed to nexus and won. :P
We were honestly losing hard, barely scraping by with constant map-awareness ganks. XD
