Thank you very much for this guide, I had some problems while trying to understand how to use her the best but now I have a far better comprehension of this champion <3

as a support Kayle wouldn't Athene's Unholy Grail be a bit more beneficial since it gives more ap and more healing to scale with your W?

The_Nameless_Bard (635) | May 29, 2018 5:00pm
You can definitely pick it up if the enemy team doesn't have a lot of hard CC to cleanse or just if you prefer it.

ok so if you're versing a lets say a Jinx and Tahm Kench that's a big no no to get Athene's Unholy Grail?

You might want to consider adding Wit's End and The Black Cleaver as offensive/defensive options. These items add a lot onto your passive making your ADC or APC hit even harder.

Getting Wits end for a Kai'Sa or Varus going AP
And Getting The black cleaver for a Miss fortune or Jhin going AD

I have two very important, game-related questions: 1. Are you a guy or a girl (I literally can't tell)? and 2. Why do you have what appears to be a small clump of pubes growing from the right side of your chin?

Other than that, nice guide! I like it.

I'm a guy and that's as much of a beard as I can currently grow because rip me lol (it's actually on both sides of my chin though).

I'm glad you like the guide.

1: you dont recommend her as a "staple pick" even though she is viable and a good choice more often than not.
2: You recommend her for use with people like varus, mf, and jhin but completely omit hyper carries such as vayne and kog who she synergizes with even more since her 3 seconds of keeping them alive can mean they kill half of the enemy team or more.
3: you recommend boots of mobility, and randuines which are sub optimal at best.
4: you have 3 core builds and dont recommend any of them even though as an enchanter support who doesnt have the mana sustain to poke, she should always start coin.
5: the situational purchase section is mostly useless. ZZ rot is never useful on kayle as her money could be spent elsewhere, frozen heart is similarly a waste of money. Knights is also not worth the money compared to items such as grail or roa. If you need to rush armor before you even have lucidity then you should build armguard instead. Twin shadows is more of a for fun item later in game, i wouldnt ever rush it ahead of any of the more realistically useful items even against stealth champs oh which there are like what 2-3 that can sustain it for more than a second or so.
6: you fail to note the importance of conserving mana in lane and not wasting it on pokes, which is especially detrimental since you dont recommend mana flow band.
7: karma doesnt counter kayle, most often due to skill path kayles w will fully negate a mantrad q from karma assuming youre buying idol when karma gets her first middle ap item. Also if youre not wasting mana on pokes (you cant outpoke her anyways) and you take mfb then you should be able to out manasustain her.
8: kayle is on equal footing with a zyra, if youre having problems with her it's because the adc cant position, not a fault of kayles
9: cait doesnt counter kayle the only way she could make lane hard for kayle is by consistently engaging which will make her vulnerable to ganks, plus cait ult is probably the most easily countered ult by yours in the game
10: your also get section contains sweeping lense even though you originally recommend totem without any reason as to why. sweeping lense is almost always an inferior option anyways since totem is the only economical way to ward before T2 trinket, at which time (assuming lvl 9) you can get oracles anyways.
11: zekes is atrocious on kayle why would she be standing so close to allies who are taking so much damage that she'd need to ult them anyways (she should be taking as little damage as possible)
12: 7.2 seconds of ult cooldown after having used it 5 times is not worth the mana sustain provided by mfb in lane
13: you frequently mention the cooldown on w but in the runes section you negate to go into specifics about how sorcery+inspiration is just as if not more effective than sorcery+resolve because of this. With cosmic insight you can start with 10% cdr and with futures market you can get idol at like 6 minutes giving you 20% cdr for much of lane phase.
14: you also pick water walking over gathering storm. Waterwalking is useless on like 75% of the map.

1. I don't recommend her as a staple pick because she isn't a meta pick, nor is she particularly strong in the current meta.
2. You're way better off running Lulu with all of those hypercarries than you are running Kayle. Expecting weak laners to perform well (which is what you do when you pick Kayle with them) is fine if you know the person you're laning with, but not super smart when you're playing with random people.
3. Mobility Boots is one of the standard options for a support, Kayle isn't an exception since she, too, needs to ward deep in enemy territory at times. Randuin's Omen can be a peeling tool (due to the active) and it's one of the better armor items to get on a support since it gives both health and armor together.
4. You yourself said Kayle shouldn't poke. I simply point out Kayle can use all of them, but specifically state that Ancient Coin is generally the best choice due to its superior mana sustain in the item section.
5. Situational, by definition, means that it's only useful in specific situations. That's why items like Athene's and such are mentioned in different sections.
6. I actually specifically state that she can have resource problems in lane and that it can be compensated for with rune choices ( Manaflow Band being the pretty obvious thing here).
7. One Soulflare is indeed sustainable. One Inner Flame per Divine Blessing (conservative and easily more sustainable for Karma than Kayle) is a losing battle. The base on Inner Flame remains consistently higher, in addition to the cooldown starting out at half as long.
8. Kayle has no real answer to her carry getting hit by a Grasping Roots and blown up before 6. Being able to respond to something (whether it is your carry's fault or not) is part of being able to handle a match-up well. You are entirely reliant on your carry in that match-up.
9. Again, this is about early game. Yes, post-six you can counter her ult. Pre-six you do basically nothing to her.
10. You get Sweeping Lens for vision control and denial. It's pretty standard to get it, as a support, when you finish the quest on your gold item (pro builds confirms this).
11. You don't get it for the frost storm, you get it for the additional 50% of damage being dealt as magic damage. That being said, my next update will probably move this item into situational in favor of Shurelya's Battlesong.
12. It's really personal preference and worth it if you don't spam so much that you require Manaflow Band to function in lane.
13. 5% additional CDR lowering the CD of your abilities is pretty obvious, I didn't feel the need to go into detail on something that the average person reading this guide already knows. Resolve tends to be superior because it increases your sustain by a noticeable amount over the course of the game.
14. You do go into the river frequently, unless you're just not warding there. 25 flat movement speed is useful, especially if you have Ionian Boots of Lucidity instead of Mobility Boots. Gathering Storm is fine, but, given how long it takes to actually do anything, there are better choices.

I like how Kayle is versatile enough to be a really option as Support. Kayle becomes very passive as Support, but that fits my Support style very well.

Do you think it makes sense to build Nashor tooth(?) as a 3rd item or so ?
It gives you huge CDR and make you a threat ?
I didn't test it yet, except Howling Abyss, but I just want to see your opinion. As it seems kinda weird, but I don't know how it is bad. If for example Ardent Censer it not relevant ?

The_Nameless_Bard (635) | February 16, 2018 6:19am
I guess you could get it if you were fed and had a mostly completed build already. It's not bad, per se, but you'll get more use out of other items. If Ardent Censer isn't relevant, items like Mikael's Blessing, Locket of the Iron Solari, and others should be considered before something like Nashor's Tooth. It's quite a bit more expensive (with a hefty recipe price) and if you find that you later need one of those items, it can delay that and make things harder for you than necessary. Also, the Ardent Censer passive applied to you (from healing an ally) late game will give you something similar to what you'd get from Nashor's Tooth, with the item costing 700 less. Finally, mathematically, Ardent Censer still adds (slightly) more to Divine Blessing when you calculate in the ardent healing passive, even with Transcendence giving you twice as much AP from Nashor's if you've already hit the CDR cap.

TL;DR: If you're going full AP Kayle support feel free to get Nashor's Tooth, but Ardent Censer has better synergy with support items, is mathematically better in a support oriented build, and costs less.

Hmm...didn't really think about applying Ardent on self lol.

Building new runes for Kayle. I have set it this way:
http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/preseason-update/8200-8214?build=20202227
or
http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/featured/preseason-update/8400-8465?build=32201223

I am more inclined to use 1st build, as it has kinda guardian rune too, but gives way better healing power and ultimate CD. But still Guardian is way better than Aery

What do you think about it ?

The_Nameless_Bard (635) | December 3, 2017 2:37pm
I know I took a while to respond, but I wanted to get some good testing in. Honestly, Summon Aery seems to be the best option for support Kayle, by far. Guardian isn't bad, but I just prefer Aery. You get everything you need out of the resolve tree just with two runes ( Font of Life and Revitalize) anyways.

Same build exept I prefer stacking AP over Waterwalking, as it makes late game more versatile and healing more powerful.
