Hey ColdStuff,
I think you've got a pretty nice guide there about Kalista.
I'm sure you're still working on the rather new threats and synergy section. I noticed that you're going quite detailed on every possible match up. But that also means that it's a lot up work for you. Chapeau/Thumbs up!
I think you're focusing on so many important fact about Kalista that the only thing your guide might need are some pictures to soften the look of it and invite more people to read it.
But overall it's a very nice guide. Keep up your great work! :)

Kalista is weak af, and not having rageblade on here, literally the most important item other than bork, is awful

I still think that Rageblade is situational. Rageblade is a very expernsive buy and Kalista doesn't have any innate on-hit effects, especially given the fact that the others, such as Varus, Kog'Maw and Vayne have more interesting and powerful synergies with that item.

The primary issue with Rageblade is that it's a late game item, Kalista doesn't fare well into late game as is, so you're better off trying and building for early game.

Don't believe me? There are very few pro ADs who currently spec into rageblade early on. Most of them go for a BOTRK - Runaan's core with either a Mercurial, BT, or GA. Very rarely do they actually go Rageblade as 3rd item, instead putting it off for 4th or perhaps even 5th item.

Guide looks good but if we could get an update for the new patch, it'd be great. A lot of things seem different now.

Not much has changed since Kalista's last set of nerfs. The primary reason is grounded in the fact that Kalista's character as a whole hasn't really changed.

Going from 550 -> 525 AA range isn't that significant. You will feel it against the likes of Ashe and Caitlyn. But most of the time when Kalista is auto attacking, she's more often closer to her target than most other ADCs.

The other caveat is the changes to her Rend, her Rend is currently bugged as to where you can cast Rend sometimes when you do not have sufficient mana. At the same time though, Kalista's mana costs are fairly low, so there's not much rationale to consider not doing anything about that

All in all, it seems that her general strengths are still in tact, she's gotten a little more capable by herself, but her early game is a little weaker, but her late game is pretty strong.

Oh, I see your point. I didn't expect it'd be the same as that while ago. In that case I'll check it out for myself but all in all I think your analysis nailed everything I needed to know. Thanks for your time.

Could you add in the section on tristana? She is s a personal struggle champ. I play several champs who are supposed to be good counters but I can never seem to get a good grip on counter playing her and get blown up

This is a fantastic guide and it is making me all the more eager to pick up Kalista. However I have a question.
I see a lot of kalistas taking the footwork Keystone for their precision page, and for Vayne another very mobile adc I konw this is the best keystone for her, so my wuestion is why take press the attack over footwork as it gives sustain, movement speed and I think attack speed (vayne is the only champion I use it on and she's still a new champ for me so I don't use her as much)
Thank you for the responce

Sorry, I haven't been active on Mobafire as much as I would have. This guide is slightly outdated as of now, but I will update whatever information that comes in.

That being said, we'll start as to several rationales as to why Kalista doesn't take Fleet Footwork, the primary issue is that she doesn't synergize particularly well with Aspects of that passive. Kalista doesn't want to build any Shard items (Stattik Shiv or Rapidfire Cannon), which ties into the Energized attack aspect of Fleet Footwork, whereas Vayne does, (she builds both Shiv and RFC, or Shiv and PD).

The second is the movement speed component, your dash speeds are not tied to your bonus MS, they're tied to your bonus Attack Speed, and the amount that you are slowed for. This has the consequence of not being particularly palatable for Kalista to run.

Thirdly, even though the slight healing is quite nice in lane, most ADCs take that healing in an attempt to bypass a particularly bad laning phase. it also doesn't scale quite for Kalista as she doesn't dump lots of her gold into direct Crit itemization, instead preferring lifesteal and sometimes on-hit itemization. Kalista is a lanebully, and in the times tha she doesn't have a good matchup and you're not confident about your abilities say Varus or Cait, it's better to go Resolve secondary.

Ok so since the main aspect of Kalista is the attack speed, why not take lethal tempo (my favorite out of the precision tree. I use it wherever possible and am addicted to the massive attack speed boost) which can give up to a 80% boost in atttack speed at lvl 18. Would this synergize with her movement speed or would it just be redundent?

Thoughts on runnans and statikk on kalista?Decent guide btw.

I would say that Runaan's with Statikk is more of a personal preference by player. You get more burst, but there are some aspects that aren't exactly conducive for a Kalista player. For one, it becomes really hard to reset Rend off of a minion because Shiv Lightning will just burst down the creeps. 2nd, having that much crit usually calls for an Infinity Edge. Kalista doesn't like an early Infinity Edge, and she'll need the extra AD from BoRK or BT to survive mid-game fights.

All in all, Runaan's Shiv is in my opinion more situational than not. I would advise Ninja Tabi or some other boot option in lieu of Berserker's Greaves so you don't get a diminishing return on the Attack Speed you've built and get more defensive power as a result
