just a quick follow up on two things I missed in your comment.
1) Which matchup information do you feel is incorrect?
2) You are aware I wrote this guide for the mid lane, correct? I don’t really play top lane Ryze, and didn’t mention playing top lane really anywhere.
i ma also aware you wrote it for midlane, but i think the only thing that differs from mid and top is item builds.
thanks for your ideas! It’s my opinion that Aftershock Ryze is not good. Considering Ryze passive allows him to pop a pretty large shield, aftershock is unnecessary and a little overkill, at least in my opinion. By running Phase Rush, it’s very easy for Ryze to first lock down an enemy that has gap closers ie assassins, and then kite away while using his passive and Phase Rush. Aftershock takes so much of his power away, even more so when chasing an enemy or getting away from a bad situation. Finally, I believe it’s best into the majority of matchups because Ryze has such range on his abilities he should very seldom be in a situation where he could be dove onto. His whole kit is centered on locking down a target and kiting, similar to an ADC. His positioning should be impeccable so as not to be caught out.
Ghost flash is, in my opinion, the best choice for Ryze at any point. Ryze should always be looking to kite or disengage. Ghost allows him to do both, and when activated with Phase Rish the speed up you get is tremendous. Great for chasing or kiting. It makes him extremely hard to catch. Taking ignite is too aggressive, as only very skilled Ryze players will have enough mana to eliminate an opponent early, and barrier is too safe, as Ryze already has a large shield on his passive. I don’t take teleport unless I’m running top lane. That’s just a personal preference, and Ryze players should be shoving the first cannon wave hard so they can fast back, get their tear. They lose maybe one wave to tower before returning. This makes teleport unnecessary: it’s about basing at the right time.
I appreciate your feedback. Have a great day.
Ghost flash is again very situational. Yes he is a kite champ, but from experience the ms from your passive is enough to be able to kite most. Tp allows for the most mistakes and allows you to plonk down in a sidlane for a while and get heaps of cs, as well as being able to teleport to any fights that happen. Your ult is relatively short ranged, even at max rank, which means you cant rotate solely with your ulti, as it doesnt reach any other lanes.
I can see where you are coming from on all points, but i personally disagree. We better get to updating our guides :(
This is a great guide in my opinion, it gives the reader a lot of information and is able to help other people a lot when they want to try out playing Ryze.
However, I think the colors are a bit to much, I think you should remove some of the blue texts or atleast making it a lighter color, it's way to dark and you can't really read it to be honest.
Otherwise good guide.
Your guide is really good, it's filled with great information that is really helpful on the path to master Ryze. However I think that making the whole text blue is kinda hard to read since embeds will be blue too. Try making only key sections of the text highlighted, it will improve reading experience and allow a TL;DR read by reading only the marked fragments.
Anyway, you really deserve a thumbs up due to your work, it should've been a long time to write all this!
Good job, and see ya!
