Pyke is one of the two most mechanically and macroscopically difficult supports in the game... (another is thresh) so it's normal that you found it difficult.
macroscopically because an assassin needs to snowball to avoid going behind.. you can achieve this by having a strategy in mind.. these strategies depend on the matchups but I can tell you one that is always valid in general.
if the botlane is 60/40 in your favor.. try to gain an advantage either with the help of your jungler especially if you don't have first or if you have it by divading.. or by using your mechanics as best as possible.. this can only be achieved with the experience.
If the botlane is 40/60 not in your favor.. then try to get at least to 6 to see if it's possible how to back.. the ultimate is an excellent powerspike for pyke and can sometimes change the matchup.. sometimes it happens that after 6 you get kill after kill.. and sometimes not.. when that doesn't happen it's time to roam..
You never roam randomly, it all depends on your wave management ability... when you have it you can roam for 30-60 seconds... putting wards around the map, for example in deep vision or ganking the mid or helping the your jungler to invade.
If your midlaner doesn't have prio and you know that he won't recall your enemy midlaner you can gank him, if instead you think he will recall it is useless to move because you will waste time... another important factor is "tempo", you have to learn not to go never out of tempo.
An example of "time" is when you, after taking 2 kills in bot, push the whole wave to crash it under the tower and recall instantly, in this way your opponent loses exp and you lose nothing and you will return to base at almost the same time of your opponents.. this is a great tempo.
Most of the errors that are made are always of a positioning and spacing nature.. try to cure those too.
Electrocute is a correct rune but not ideal for pyke, because the natural exchange of pyke is Q+AA+AA+AA (of hail of blades) + E or Q+E behind + AA+AA+AA (of hail of blades) when you have electrocute you cannot give all those basics, and that damage will always be less than the bonus one provided by electrocute.. so in total you will always do more damage with a hail of blades
I love mobility but with youmuu I think I have enough so I don't look for mobility elsewhere.. I hope I answered everything in an exemplary manner or as you hoped xD
I hope I was able to fully answer your questions.
Lately I've been uploading videos on youtube, so if you have any other doubts, you can come and see me how I play draft with my pyke.
if you have any other questions or criticisms I'm here.
ps the guide is only a road that is passable out of the 100 that are practicable
1: is
2: why not a guide to pyke top too? Can he be a bruiser? He has damage and mobility, with some survivability stuff he should be fine. Good work.
I'll tell you my point of view which is just my personal opinion:
Summary.. even against a squishi team it's always worthwhile
As for pyke top and why I didn't add it in the guide.. is the problem that pyke has with dealing with enemies with high HP rate.. having big HP counters pyke because he needs huge damage somewhere. .or rook or jungler to finally be able to execute an enemy. Pyke Top is highly discouraged.. the only way to win the lane is only if the enemy top is trolling. If you want to play him in a different role than support.. I assure you it's much more fun jungle or mid where you get a lot more kills.. another thing.. to pick pyke top your team is like giving up a front laner or a tank in future team fights.. so either you win the game in 15 min.. or you lose.. (pyke's late game is horrible) I don't think I'll ever make a guide on pyke top.. the guide was initially thought for the support role first and then mid/adc... I added the jungler role after realizing how much pyke worked from that point of view.. because he manages to gank and take huge amounts of kills and help the team... I hope I was exhaustive XD
if u think guide is wrote good.. leave a like so it will be more visible and help someone else
What do you think of Ionian boots for cdr? It does take away some of the speed but gives ultimate and summoner's cdr that allows to make plays more often and could be implemented with relentless hunter for the extra move speed.
Also when you rated the skin's ultimate hitboxes, it's purely a cosmetic change right?
1) when I use my grab 0.5 seconds before the grab hits, can I predict that I will grab it?
2) when I roll my R, am I 98% sure my ulti will hit?
3) when I use my e to stun, does the visual effect distortion allow me to stun them better by calibrating with small mouse cursor movements?
if the answers are yes, then it's a good skin otherwise pay attention xd there are skins in my opinion from try harding and those for fun
Tier 0: Sands ( chroma purple ) + Project
Tier 1: Ashen Knight (chroma or not) + sentinel
Tier 2: Psyops
Tier 3: moon + empirean + standard no skin xd
If you will have other questions you can find me here or in private :)
Looking forward to see the heartsteel build btw :) I love pyke but it's kind of sad there's no viable builds other than the standard lethality one
1) when you want to make a long range kill, then go for e + (flash) + R, in that case knowing the hitbox is important and makes the difference.
2) If you're against a pyke, knowing his hitbox helps you dodge his X, as happened to me weeks ago while playing rammus in aram against a pyke, simply by reminding me that in that particular area, what the X was like, I she helped dodge her by just moving me at the right moment, and i managed it 2 times.
The Psyops skin was my first skin on pyke xD and in any case even if it's a tier 2, I've had some good games with it and I like it as a skin, let's say that the ones I don't like are only the tier 3 skins, so don't worry.
As for the Heartsteel build, it's complicated to play it in draft and a bit also in urf, due to the fact that you have to get very close to get the stacks being very fragile and it takes too much time to stack enough to get to do damage of X above 67% hp, it would take like 2 hours of stack taken at any given time, pure insanity. As for pyke builds, as you could see from the settings I have, yes many rely on lethality, primarily the draktar because it's the perfect object for pyke, but I usually build it very bruiser/tank it almost depends a lot from match, if i have yasuo/yone etc then i will build randuin and antiheal. I also regently added the crit build from patch 13.1B, with the infinite edge. I'm thinking about adding these things in the guide but I'm not sure:
1) the ap for fun build to be used in urf, I had good games with it and also with an excellent score
2) The session of pyke jungle seen that I played it 2 times and I made very good results, the last time 21-5-20 and in the same game a triple in the same X xD, so I'm evaluating these two things lately, and then I would like improve the part of synergies and counters, better describing the matchups
If not in this guide in another one just for off-meta, would love to play pyke jungle too, there was a brief moment when ravenous hydra was broken that I managed to make it work a couple times but it seems like rito wants to confine our boy pyke to support ç_ç
Thanks again for your support and encouragement
Hi jijy, I really appreciate your words, and I will answer you in a very honest way, I got to silver 4 in the last season, not because after 400 games I was stuck, but because after 30 games I got bored of playing ranked, and I was playing 95% of the time in draft or aram that 5%. Not only my experience on pyke was born from the drafts, but also from my unbridled desire to know much more about the champion, informing myself on the various websites and via you tube by watching Davemon who would be the top 1 global on pyke xD and my style gameplay is very close to his. I can assure you that knowing everything about pyke in detail makes you better than others, because knowing how to deal with certain situations at the limit of the thinkable, like ulting on the w of fiora and being able to exe her, which even davemon doesn't know xD is satisfying. But for this season 13, I'm aiming at least for gold and hopefully for platinum. So wait and see just give me some time xD
