The nocturne guides I have been looking at on this site are just plain suboptimal. I cannot defeat nocturnes who play against me with different builds.

Last game, enemy nocturne got 22-2, and I got 8-9, best in my team (most damage dealt)... I don't understand how this nocturne beat me. The guy got smite too without jungling until much later. We started off with first blood and 3-0.

I built: Madred bloodrazor > merc tread (cuz veigar/fear/rammus etc) > infinity edge > blood thirster > phantom dancer (i didn't get here game ends at 40 minutes, not enough gold).

Enemy nocturne built: Wriggles Lantern > berserk greave > Youmu Ghostblade > Trinity Force > guardian angel > banshee .... How the hell does he have any damage?!?!?!

He was doing way more damage, I couldn't hurt anyone with my ****py infinity edge (before blood thirster).

Sure my teammates were not excellent, but there must be an explanation for why he was able to get such an upper hand early game. How can I carry games if their enemy nocturne is so superior in every way?

Well he built more survivability, so obviously he was harder to kill. He seems to be fed as well.

With that early advantage, the only reason your team lost is because of personal mistakes, not items. Likely their team was better than yours.

If you really think its items, try getting Brutalizer before your IE. Ghostblade is a great item on Nocturne.

also never call IE a ****py item

Well, since he was fed way more than you, he was able to build survivability with armor and STILL afford damage. You only had damage because you had way less kills, and that made him the superior Nocturn for that game.

And yes Jebus, NEVER call IE a ****py item! :)
I wish...

But it doesn't make sense... How does he have more damage than me, when he doesn't have an infinity edge--that is what I mean. It's almost like as if the AP ratio or something makes Trinity force + ghostblade superior in total-damage than IE + bloodrazor (specifically for nocturne). That is what I meant.

your items are awesome and so are his

he got more fed.

end story.

ANYONE fed is scary. hell, a fed soraka can down people quickly (if going dps) or heal people instantly early game

and, seeing that you did the BEST on your team, it is quite obvious they got fed. even if you have a lot of damage, you can't do much to a fed team, with more survivability and damage than you

that is how the game works my friend

moral of the story: get fed and don't feed

=D

Thanks to TRUeLM, Plastictree, Scrax, Xiaowiriamu, foggy12, JahGFX, jhoijhoi, msrobinson, JEFFY40HANDS, Nyoike, MissMaw, and me :) for the sigs!

You might have lacked armor penetration, when their Nocturne was building tanky items. It is nice with tons of damage, but you will need to be able to slash through their armor.

Maybe the ghostblade makes a difference tho, with the armor penetration he had?

I have armor penetration runes, but I'm missing the quintessences for it so it's not maxed out.

I tried using his build a game yesterday, seems to work real nice. But I will still combine with an infinity edge. But I like this Wriggles > ghostblade idea.

Not sure of trinity force on nocturne yet, must try soon.

Thank you for the advice wrath, jebus, dotter, basket. I think you are right that maybe it's just the fact that he was able to feed on my teammates, that really made him snowball out of control. But in that situation---I am powerless and helpless, don't know what to do. My hope is to figure out a way to recover from such situations.

It is always important to get some armor penetration, especially if the enemy teams' damage dealers also stack defensive items, at least in my opinion.
