Ok, so I posted awhile back that I had gotten a few irl friends to pick up LoL, and we are just starting to play together. As for me, I'm not really a newbie anymore, I finally am getting to the point where I can pick up a character pretty quickly and do decently with him. It used to be if I couldn't play 1 or 2 champs, I was dead. So they all have their little favorite pet characters, right now they play as: Master Yi, Annie, Twitch, and Blitz. I have played as Veigar with them mostly, but we still do get housed pretty regularly. I'm looking for a champ that can turn the tide of a game even when his team isnt doing great, ie can make up the most ground for his team. Im thinking maybe Shen, for his saving ulti. Any recommendations would be awesome! If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer em! Appreciated as always.

Shen is definitely good for carrying a team in the sense of keeping people alive and ensuring kills.

If you are a much higher summoner level you might want to play a carry or "pubstomp" type character since you will have the edge by being above the enemy team's level. Examples would be like Evelynn, Nidalee, Kassadin. I choose these because low level players often overextend and can be easily ganked by these characters. Also with Nidalee low level players are bad at dodging spears. :) These champs all have the element of surprise, and new players won't be expecting their burst.

Good luck!

Most of the tanky dps and tanks can change the game, so as Mowen pointed out, Shen is a really good champion for this, others include mundo, possibly cho'gath, and nasus

Others that are really nice are poppy, olaf, gangplank and singed, all really strong mid~late game. Although it just depends on the circumstances.

but Shen is a great choice, one of my favorite champions.

Shen has a pretty high skill cap compared to most champions, but once learned, he's pretty awesome.

I'd recommend someone like Warwick maybe. (For 3v3, since most low level players prefer Twisted Treeline, so I assume that's what you and your friends are playing together most).

I make sigs, PM me if you want one :D (Thanks for the Nidalee sig, The_Nameless_Bard!)

Looks like 5v5 to me, "right now they play as: Master Yi, Annie, Twitch, and Blitz. I have played as Veigar..."

I'd recommend playing a tanky dps champion, or a jungler. Playing a jungler would also allow you to rotate your friends and teach them how to hold up a solo top lane.
