I stand beside Chaotic in our lack of traditionalism. Going with the unexpected and underrated is kinda my thing. Even moreso when nobody else expects anything of it.

I also agree. It's like "Hey they have a Yi, rush Thornmail". *1 Thornmail later* "DAMN he's AP, well what a waste of money"
Not too mention that while they build to counter what they think you were gonna do, you tear them up with what you are actually doing.

Any ship can be a minesweeper... once.
Here's what I think of the OP's suggestions:
AD Janna - could be decent
AP Pantheon - BAD
AP Tryndamere - USELESS
AD Anivia - BAD
AP/tank hybrid Shen - Shen with tank items and
Abyssal Mask+
Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a very good idea, but I think most people are building him that way anyway.
AD/spell vamp Garen - bad
AP Gangplank - could actually work.
Tank Annie - Depending on what is considered tank it could be pretty decent. But only if tanky caster items are bought.
AP Shen - bad
AD Kassadin - Ok
I got an idea that's actually kinda viable! :D
Urgot with Manamune (he NEEDS it), Banshee's Veil and 3 Hextech Gunblades.
Same build with Pantheon? Could actually work :3

"Moral justification is a powerful disengagement mechanism. Destructive conduct is made personally and socially acceptable by portraying it in the service of moral ends." - Albert Bandura
"Ultimately, if people lose their willingness to recognize that there are times in our history when legality becomes distinct from morality, we aren't just ceding control of our rights to government, but our futures." - Edward Snowden

Then it's also an example of how bad a champion can be outside their regular role.
"He cooked cake." - MrCuddowls
"Oh forget it, I have nothing to hid, I admit it, 12 hours of every single day of my life ever since I was eleven years old have been anal sex with canoes" - MrCuddowls

This just happened to me, except they got frozen heart and sunfire, AP yi just crushed them. He just does enormous damage to 4 enemies at once.
