When you compare trist to other ranged carries she really isn't that strong mid, until she hits 6 it is a huge risk to try to do damage. I'd probably say the 3 best ranged DPS laners are:
Urgot
Corki
Miss Fortune
The difference is, tristana has massive range (even at low levels), so she can effectively last hit, harass with the passive AND active of

I think of the 3 you mentioned, only Urgot would be a sure victory against tristana. Idk about MF, but I doubt Corki would win against Tristana in a lane before level 6.
@Dante:
It is useless against your lane opponent, unless they're recalling with 200 HP and your Ult is ready. In which case, you're already doing a fantastic laning.
I was referring to her harass capabilities.

No, her range is slightly above average. It's 550 + 9 per lvl. Caitlyn starts at 650.

At low levels she has decent range, by level 6 she outranges ashe, and by level 11 she outranges caitlyn (who has abnormally long range). So, in effect, she won't have trouble harassing with auto-attacks against most enemy champions, and once she gets her burst damage harassing will be a breeze.
I actually prefer laning with Ashe over midding with her (I actually really detest midding in general), that way you can play her as more of a backup-carry instead of a super-carry. If I'm having farming issues with her (which isn't aas much of a problem for me anymore) I just get a Tiamat, which pretty much makes it so you don't have to spam volley at all to get decent to good farm.
Tamat is a really ****py item on most champions..
Ashe can side lane just fine, but a supporter is a preferred lanemate. And make sure you don't face a double stun lane because most supporter+carry combos can't handle it at all.

"I saw [Twilight: Eclipse] in theaters with a girl I was dating at the time. I spent more time staring at my toes and wiggling them than I did watching this abomination. When Edward proposed to Blank Face, I finally looked up with a revelation.
I blurted out loud, in a dead silent theater full of teenage girls on opening night "Wait a minute, Edward has no blood flow. How does he get an erection?" I heard several men laughing, and had several girls turn and stare at me.

I only get Tiamat if I'm not getting enough farm, because it's pretty ****py on Ashe in all other respects. I like to rush wriggle's for the lifesteal/utility, which I don't usually see on Ashe but I works well for me..
Ashe is a good lane because she's a good harasser if you're careful not to overextend, but she is extremely squishy so most people fail miserably at laning with her.
