This is what I;'ve been looking for. I started playing shen this week since he's free though I loved him so much I bought him (and the sub zero skin is on sale). As i was playing him I noticed what great ap increases his skills have but my normal tank builds dont have ap. I shrugged and went about my way, then on 3 seperate occasions i used my ult, only to have the shield not be enough, my teammate die and my ult wasted. The ult has a 100% ap increase and I had 0 ap, making the ult only effective at saving at level 16. I then thought of making a tanky ap, similar to my cho gath build but it wasnt adding up.

In short, I'm glad I read this guide because it gives me some ideas and jungling makes me stroke my chin in thought, especially after reading the guide about the new meta game where tanks start in jungle to get cash. Thanks

The build assumes that the game does not finish at the 20 minute mark. My games tend to last longer than 50 minutes, in which time, if the game is equal, you should be able to get everything except FoN, which you don't necessarily need. A Quicksilver Sash can substitute.

The order of which you get your items is not as listed. It is whatever you -need- first. You're not gonna get Zhonya's right away, if you don't need the activation effect, you just grab the Chain Vest from it for later, and move on. The only thing that is set in stone, so to say, is that Rylai's is the first pick. Likewise, if you need more MR, you're going to grab the Negatron cloak, and finish Abyssal Scepter first.

If it is -just- the defenses you need, you don't necessarily need to finish the big items: just grab enough Negatrons to be able to finish whatever Negatron based item you need -later-, and you would have decent enough MR.

Once again, FoN is not a core item. It is one of the three "Hey, I need moar MR" items. Rylai's, Abyssal, Rabadon's. These are the three cores. Rest is "Whatever the hell I need".

I will reserve my vote for after I try this. But it seems that maybe I am missing something about how you get all the your money. I mean, it seems as though Rabadon's and FoN are two pretty major parts of your build that you most likely will never get.

Again, I will try before voting but the stats here are pretty unimpressive if you exclude those two items.

Shen is my fav. tank/support. Always wanted to build an AP Shen, but never had the opportunity. +1 for initiative, however I wouldn't get FoN last. Maybe after Zhonya's Hourglass.
