i didn't say it wasn't spectator mode, do you understand basic english?
i said having actual spectators in the game then some spectator mode where any random can watch the game at any random time means that a) competitvely, games will be impossible unless they delay it for spectators which means b) you have to delay the spectator mode which makes commentary and managing actual games goes slower which means c) commentators have to stay until AFTER the game is completely finished

They're working on seeing if people can join.
The delay time isn't determined, but it is necessary to prevent cheating.
Who cares if they're stuck for 3~5 minutes after the real game ends, if they stayed that long, they want to see the end of it.
Riot's also working out what they can do to provide spectators something to do while the match is loading the delay time.
There was also talk of gambling on ranked games. Hahaha. That would be just hilarious.

Why do you feel that it hinges on spectators? The point is that this is independent of spectators. Am I misunderstanding you, Jet, or what? My vision of this if Riot does it themselves is that there's a section somewhere in PvP.net where you just go and it has a list of professional/tourney matches going on that you can watch. You'd have control of the camera and that's it I believe. What could potentially alleviate the the ghosting issue would be when you jump in it forces you to choose a side to spectate and you only have vision of one team.

lol Jet. Are you serious? I mean, obviously they have absolutely no means of controlling the delay time. When they create the spectator system they will still make it so it's impossible to change the time delay on tournament servers, even though they have separate servers for tournaments and that they need a different spectator mode. They know this but they will make sure it is impossible for the servers to have different delay times just to screw up competitive play.
Makes sense. Why wouldn't riot do that?

And Jet, just so we're clear, I like having a spectator mode and this "live replay" mode if you will. Spectator mode is for people actually in the match who can actually chat with players. Hopefully, if we get serious some day that'll be used for coaches on "the sidelines" and referees only and all the "folks at home" will be watching the "live replay" mode. This way you have the same excellent control that an actual spectator has and you're seeing it just shy of live.
