Y, totally! It's got this really deep story! It totally doesn't feel like they make the story up as they go!
Seriously tho; I do like it, but the story really is kinda meh..

I finished watching "Ano hi Mita no Namame o Bokutachi wa mada shiranai"(aka "Ano Hana"), one of this seasons' top-animes, if not the best of this season.
I can recommend this to anyone who likes demanding Drama or Slice-of-Life, because this is really one of the best you will find under this genre.
One of the anime's strenghths are it's very natural and convincing characters and the way the Anime handles with them. It goes really deep with them and after finishing the Anime you really have a feeling of knowing them, that gets supported by the rather small cast of six characters.
Long story short since I am not very good in wriitng reviews, must-watch imo.

Quoted:
A group of childhood friends drifts apart after one of them, Meiko "Menma" Honma, dies in an accident. Years later, the leader of the group, Jinta Yadomi, has become withdrawn and lives as a recluse. An older Meiko appears to him, and says that she must have a wish granted, though she does not know what it is.

Because the robots are living things, and in order to control them you need to "merge" with them. From what I've seen Gundam uses 2 joysticks and pedals, which is not realistic at all is it? How can you control an entire robot with only that?
@Xenasis (spoilers ahead!)
Well, your main reason was that Shinji was a wimp, and the movie changes all that.
By the way, try stabbing a 14 year old multiple time and see how reluctant he is to do it again. I forgot that they feel everything their EVA does, including arms being ripped apart. He also has to merge with the robot that killed his own mother, fight for some random group of people, forced to kill his own friends, etc.
