Well, imo we just need one more category for Unconventional builds. Builds that are not meant for competitive play.

This is still unnecessary if we just input guide categories. We won't need to label an Annie build as "unconventional" if it's categorized as "tank".

You could always implement both, actually show which archtype it is for next to the build name(able to sort by this) and also an unconventional category.

Imo it seems like it's easier to just add one "Unconventional" category, than to add a list of all the roles you can build. We don't even know all the categories that can be used and it will probably be a hassle to make even more ones since it's almost certain that we'll miss some role.
We can also be certain that loads of users will place their builds in the wrong role.

I'm a little confused.. If a guide has two builds for the same champion (like mine.. >.>), will they get filtered out into the team category? Or is that what you mean by "similar builds"..
It will not get filtered out. That was actually one of the primary reasons for doing this - those builds were being considered "team builds" before, but now they are properly being considered "champion builds" :)

The "AD/AP/etc" thing is something we would like to do too... That would be separate of guide types. Would you call that "Role"? We've discussed this before but were never able to nail down a proper list of roles. If we can come up with a solid list, I can put it in. Then we can display the role in listings and add a filter for it to help users find what they want more easily.
