Udyr Jungle viable again?

He's actually not that bad imo. His early ganks can be painful since he can gank at lvl similiar to Nunu and can force summoners early. If you made them 'waste' their Flash, he's able to gank almost anyone with redbuff later on.

Udyr hasn't stopped being viable in the jungle.

Pros-
Strong suprise ganks
Deceptively tanky with levels in turtle stance
One of the faster Junglers (imo level 5 around 5 minutes is doable)
Solid damage output
Works in lanes due to change in mana costs

Cons-
Most kiteable melee in the game
Bear Stance+Ghost still means champs with Flash win.
Makes Olaf look better at ganking (Undertow from a bush > RARARAR giant man with a bear head trying to get in melee range to stun you))

Possible solution? Buff the earlier ranks of speed from bear stance or increase the stun duration so it's 2 seconds at all levels of bear stance. It would make his gank attempts a little more worth it. 2 seconds of damage might mean the difference between risking a tower dive or running back to the forest.

Only like... 30-40% of Udyr's ganks are to kill. The other 60-70% are to make them blow summoners. If Udyr gets a free stunning speed boost and they blow flash/cleanse/ghost to get away, you did you job.

Udyr has always been one of my favorite champions and my jungler of choice. However, I don't play ranked, I only pubstomp normals. Everytime I play Udyr I just seem to absolutely roll the enemy team. It's most likely due to the way I play and the balls-out rush part of Udyr suits my aggressive style well. I like that Udyr is very gank dependent because he's good at it. I love to be roaming from one lane to the next ganking everyone. It makes the game fun for me. I've actually only played himonce since the patch though and I didn't see any difference. I jungle Turtle/Tiger though and not Phoenix.

I'm of the opinion that a jungler is a champ that is meant to preform 4 tasks. Those 4 tasks being:
-Ganks
-Global team gold gain (dragon/baron)
-Relieve pressure
-Increase a team's over all performance by allowing 3 champs to benefit from max EXP gain.

Udyr can achieve all of those goals rather effectively when played well. But his weakness is that "The Ideal Chase Champ", still can't catch people. I once had to chase a Jax for ~45 seconds to FINALLY kill him. He just ran around in a big circle I was spamming between bear and tiger stances, if I hadn't had blue buff going for a majority of the chase I would have oomed.

He doesn't really need a gap closer per say he just needs a more effective bear stance Imo.

Why switching between Bear and Tiger? Just to keep the dodge chance up? That really doesn't matter in a chase.

Udyr's patch didn't really change much, the only thing that did is Turtle is 1000x better now, especially at early levels. Tiger is still better then Phoenix imo, does tons more damage...his main problem is that he has no gap closer, and you pretty much either have to choose no smite (which is a bad idea), no ghost (helps on ganks tons, by the time they react your there), or flash (also helps in ganks and chasing, when you have to get out of somewhere, they flash over a wall etc). It would be SUPER helpful if they gave him a pounce esque skill or just lowered his cdr's a bit/increased bear speed early.

The other thing is that while he is super strong early game (probably just as good as other champs, if not better) but he is definitely outclassed as a carry and as a tank late game...he isn't really as good as he is early game, late game tbh.
