I wrote a New Player FAQ: http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/new-player-faq-62815
Just look at the sections and see which ones you think you need to know. Most will be helpful to you but some like "what is elo / ranked matches / etc" won't be pertinent.
I've been working with a lvl 6 player too. So far he doesn't last hit like trojan says, but also doesn't make sure to stand behind the minion wave. Make sure to stand behind the minions so you get harassed less easily, and last hit when you can. Information on last hitting is in that guide btw.

I just bought Fiddlesticks and I actually do pretty well with him. I'm not one to usually get very angry but my biggest issues now are last-hitting and people STEALING MY KILLS. It's annoying. >_>
But, whining aside lol, I'm playing a lot better. In my opinion.

Haha, killstealing can be annoying, but it's usually best to let it go, since you still get 70% of the gold for an assist.
One other super important thing is building defensive items even on offensive champions. This isn't super important at lower levels, but will still help. For example, if you're playing Ashe against 4 AD and 1 AP champions, go ahead and buy a thornmail for the armor at some point. While you won't do as much damage, this halves how much damage they will do to you. :D
EDIT: One other thing is this
1 armor = +1% hp against physical damage
1 magic res = +1% hp against magical damage.
So if you have 2000 health, 50 armor, and 150 magic resist
An enemy with physical attacks will actually have to do 3000 damage to kill you
An enemy with magical attacks will actually have to do 5000 damage to kill you.

Ya is right. Getting defensive items increases your damage output, since you live longer. If you live longer, you do more damage :D
Not that you should just build pure tank on everyone. You still want some damage :P

Ha, I understand. I'll definitely keep that in mind because I think my biggest weak point right now isn't last-hitting or anything, it's the items. I hardly know any of them or what they do, so I usually follow the recommended item purchase order on builds on here. I need to learn them well and adjust to a situation, but I don't know anything right now lol.
Thanks though. :)
Thanks though. :)

wat?
generally you want to take tier 3 runes which you can't get until level 20 when jungling...and full/near full mastery pages...so jungling will be more difficult for a lower level but it is still possible...
