Wrath's a little behind in the news department. Exhaust Flash is really strong right now.

But on ASHE?

As Jebus said,

"and you typically see a lot of Flash+Exhaust or Flash+Ignite on carries who have natural escape abilities and/or are extremely aggressive, like Vayne, Tristana, or Caitlyn."

Thanks to TRUeLM, Plastictree, Scrax, Xiaowiriamu, foggy12, JahGFX, jhoijhoi, msrobinson, JEFFY40HANDS, Nyoike, MissMaw, and me :) for the sigs!

Ashe can get away with movement speed, slow from arrows, and stun from her ult. Ghost isn't gonna save you from a 3-man gank (flash will). Exhaust can save you from an overly aggressive opponent or a jungler coming to gank, especially junglers like udyr or xin who have to auto attack you to activate their CC. I just think exhaust has way more utility than ghost does (ghost feels like a pretty lackluster summoner spell in my opinion).

There's the thing that people seem to be missing when it comes to ranged carries....Positioning. Ghost can add to your kite game against melee champs without powerful gap closers. As well flash is an instant thing, ghost's duration (especially on an AD carry like Ashe if you have Ghost Talent) is much more beneficial. Between her Volley Poke and Consistent slow you can simply move/autoattack/move volley/move auto attack/move volley if kiting. As well Ghost means you can avoid un needed damage while circling the outside of a team fight by being able to counter Ashe's naturally low base move speed (even in T2 boots or T3).

I had tried playing ashe with a 15/0/15 set up. I've recently switched to a standard 21/0/9 set up and found much more success.

As for using your first arrow+volley on the person you're laning against (if you take mid) I advise against that. In my experience mid lane isn't always won at the first exchange. As well forcing the person you're laning against to withdraw means the lane might be pushed in your favor but you're vulnerable to ganks. You're better off farming and poking when your opponent tries to poke. Volley has a great range for that purpose.

If you're duo lane bot then go ahead and Volley+First arrow the squishier of the 2 champs in your lane. Establishing lane dominance early in a side lane in my opinion is a lot easier to maintain because you have 2 people with 1 viable area to be ganked from. Mid is simply to exposed to risk over extending (Especially as Ashe).

I generally save my arrow for bot or top lane if I see my teammates getting pushed too far. I only use my arrow against my mid opponent if I know I can secure the kill, which is usually pretty easy with exhaust. And you're right about positioning, that's really important and I often find myself using flash to get into a better position after I start getting focused, but I don't think ghost is really all that necessary. The movement speed from boots of swiftness plus zeal is fast enough and you can have both of those pretty early on in the game.

I've always picked ghost/flash on Ashe. But I can definitely see exhaust/flash. Exhaust really is a great spell. I just usually don't get close enough to people to really use exhaust as much. I'm ranged and I like to stay that way. Flash is always enough for when I need to get out in a pinch. Just my play style I suppose. Love exhaust though, just not on Ashe.

ya I'd say that's the only downside on exhaust. It's casting range is shorter than most AD carries auto attack ranges and generally demands that you put yourself in danger to cast it (unless you're running away, then you're already in danger). That is unless you manage to stun the opponent first, run up and exhaust them. It's also really good against champs like corki or tristana who jump onto you and right into the range of exhaust.

It depends on the way people play Ashe. There are many ways to play every champ. I like having the back up of Ghost, it's not assuring my escape but it puts distance between me and melee champs as well affords me the options of going merc treads or Zerker Greeves if I so choose.
As for Ashe arrows. I've learned my lesson, hoping your enemy doesn't move or get pinged by their team to let them know an arrow is coming doesn't stop it from happening. But there are clutch moments when you snipe someone. Just like Ezreal's ulti or even Lux's. Good feeling to get blind snipes at people.

ya I love it when my arrows connects on an opponent who's in a different lane. It's like dropping a rock down a well and waiting for a sound. but that sound is "an enemy has been slain".
