@Scrax:
It's that kind of ambiguity that probably shuns potential forum-users. :/
Not everyone wants to do premades or matchmaking, so there's a bit of conflict there.
I'm looking at the matchmaking thread now.
There are a few introductions there, but they're only getting 1~3 replies at best. I may be wrong, but I'm going out on a limb here and saying the matchmaking forum, among recruiters and premaking, isn't the best place to introduce yourself.
I think there needs to be a separate thread that's simply for introductions.
Matchmaking and Introducing yourself should be separate topics, and I think activity revolving around new users would definitely go up if the latter would more independently displayed.
A lot of people don't like taking the initiative, they like being asked.

It may not seem like much, but in my opinion, it's a great way to encourage that first forum-post.
A lot of users probably don't see a reason to post; the lack of an introductions forum probably also makes them think this forum isn't really active.
Being able to say "Hi, I'm ______ " and be welcomed by the regulars is a consistently proven way to break the ice for people who may not be comfortable with joining a new forum.
