It works though.
The problem is with LoL: fights take to long, lanes are so passive and mistakes have to be MASSIVE to capitalize on them, regen items basically say "hang back 30 seconds, full health again".
HoN basically says "ok if they make a mistake and you can capitalize on it, gg you win". It punishes mistakes more severely by having lower HP / higher damage values on heroes, meaning fights and lanes are more aggressive and all about how well you position and farm.

^exactly, which makes it a HARDER game overall.

I don't think it does.
It just makes it more based on who makes the first mistake.
If, on HoN, it's the first to make one mistake, it's nowhere as skill based to find the winner as, say, making 5 mistakes makes you lose.

Well then you don't think games like bayonetta and deamon souls is hard games? were bassicly if you make one mistake, you culd die?
In my opinion: Less room for mistakes makes hardergames. I never really like the laneing in LoL, mostly for it's passivness. That's why i play were aggresive lanes ^^¨
Lee sin ftw!

but bayonetta and demon souls are different. being mostly single player games (i think you can do some pvp on demon souls or something.), if you screw up you just restart, and thats no big deal.
you say everything one shotting everyone makes the game harder but the enemy can screw up too and make the game easier.

I like things that make me feel stupid. - Ken Levine
Exactly...
which makes it harder for EVERYONE overall...screw up and you're toast.
And it isn't JUST that, it is also the denying, more micro, rune timers, etc. etc.
Many more things to manage in HoN than LoL, case closed.

Yeah, I did only play about 5 games, it was terrible.
It did seem a LOT less skill based, there were countless champions that could one shot me - Devourer, for example, was a mix of Cho'Gath and Blitzcrank. I was dominating him for the first 5-10 minutes, but he landed his hook, used his ultimate and stunned/killed me. The ability to chop down trees doesn't make it more skill based, if you can kill people without them having time to react (Puppetmaster, for example) then it just ruins it. Hell, I played one champion, Moon Queen, I think it was. She was a ranged AD carry that could essentially one shot people with her ultimate...
If games about killing people shouldn't be light hearted, explain how TF2 is doing so damn well...
If they have no matchmaking system in place for non-ranked games, they should make that clear, and get one in there.
I can't comment on the secret shops, as when I was playing I had no idea where they were and they sold items for big items (I assume like Needlessly Large Rod equivalents) but I could never find one...
I was, however, playing AFTER the shop overhaul. It was terrible, and nothing was clear where anything was or what was good for your champion. I'm pretty sure they overhauled it for the week it was free.
I would try it again, but honestly, I'm not spending money on a game that was terrible the first few hours I was playing it.
That's why I am saying to try it again.
It is more skill based for all the things you neglected to mention here that I did such as denying and mcuh more micro.
And yes, you are right, you can kill people instantly.
But here's S2's strat: Make EVERYONE OP to balance it out.
And it works, for the most part.
Dev has a crazy early game, you counter him by staying behind creeps. Moon Queen's ult is crazy, you counter it by killing her quick and staying out of range of it.
Remember, there is no AP in that game except for some champions such as Flux who buying Intel increases one of his ability's damage output by a little...but for the most part your base ability damage is it.
Then what you build is AD, AS, survivability.
Get magic armor and armor against Dev.
It is harder for you because you don't know a lot of the items and such...but just like LoL, once you know how to counter people, it isn't as hard.
Don't tell me when you were summoner level 10 you didn't think Fiddlesticks and Annie were OP?
No one is OP, it is just knowledge of countering them.
Matchmaking isn't really necessary; you are used to it since it is the ONLY form of finding games in LoL; but in HoN there are server selections and hosts.
There are no secret shops anymore.
And the recommended items are pretty good, plus use that Nigma site I was telling you about, it helps.
I know you had a bad time playing it last time, but you didn't have all of this knowledge I just told you...
Plus, I would play WITH you and help you out.
I challenge you to try the game again, and play with me.
Accept my challenge?
@Shrill, thanks ^^
what is your IGN, I might try out Rev. tonight after some sigs.
