Well Ali is the best spammable heal in the game now, and in a teamfight that's 180+20% AP for EVERYONE close to him. Just press button, no need to aim, no one gets left out. So if you heal 3 people besides yourself, it's one of the strongest in the game now that is non-soraka ulti.
If you for some reason want to follow my ranked journey to gold, you can do it Here.

Think of it in terms of DotA. Alistar is more of a classic support than he is a LoL support. A support isnt so much as a champ that can sustain and augment the carry, but a support presents the danger of doing damage to you. Take Lich for example. He is often a trilane support, but he has really high damage output, particularly from his ultimate which works like a super overpowered version of spell flux on ryze. he is considered support, yes, but he does lots of damage. Same with Lina.
For Alistar, he has a fairly spammable heal, but his other three skills make him a serious threat to the other team. He has some of the best cc in the game, which is enough to scare anyone. Even if he doesn't do damage, most steer clear of him, which means your carry is safe.
That is a support. That is why alistar is godlike right now.

Sorry guys, to those of you that pay attention to my tier list, College has been hectic and I just got around to getting on MOBAfire.
Anyways, Here's the Actual Play patch .125 Tier List changes:
Morgana - Wow. From tier 4 to tier 1 just like that. She counters the current solo mid ap metagame. She can farm and push. She is a gamechanger late game. She can support the ranged AD.
Lee Sin - I still don't think he does that much damage, but I CAN attest to his late game tankiness. Regardless, When there is a Lee Sin on either team, they almost always win the match, and it is somehow tied to Lee Sin no matter what.
Singed - Singed is OP. No but seriously, He can be zoned in lane for 10 minutes, but his ability to farm means as long as he doesn't feed he will be fine mid to late game. Just wait till you get catalyst and lv 7 and you can farm all you want. And possibly grab a few kills if you have good timing.
Orianna - The first drop of the list. She is still great, but her spammability went down. They did to her what they did to Udyr. She's not bad now, but shes not broken in lane anymore. Still very good teamfight and laning.
Casseopeia - She's pretty popular and her laning AND teamfight damage is ridiculous. And even though people used to complain about her awful ult, it ****in hurts if she gets two or 3 people in it, regardless of if they get stunned or not.
Gangplank - He just doesn't quite fit the meta... He's in a funky spot. People are having trouble deciding on the best build for him, and he is kinda murky as to what lane or jungle he takes. Not bad, just kinda... just there.
Udyr - After the turtle nerf I thought his laning days were over. Well me being the biased Udyr main I am, I can most assuredly tell you he is still thriving in the lane. You just have to play more aggressive than the typical Rain Man Udyr where he just turtles all day. Turtle stance no longer gives enough mana so you need to outharass your enemy. Plus, Udyr has amazing farming and pushing abilities, and he's scary as hell late game.
Jax - Still great, but he's starting to move back to what he used to be. Just a little. Exhaust really shuts him down, and if his team isn't capable of backing him up he just can't do it alone.
Soraka - She plays a bit of a dual role now. Easily the best remake of all the supports. She isn't as much of a healer anymore, but her heals are still great. Her Starcall, however, is amazing. If you can get her even a little tanky with ap and you can get some starcalls off on the enemy, your team has a huge advantage in that fight.
Sona - Underestimated is all. Still great support.
Miss Fortune - Don't see much of her anymore, and with healing being less popular, so is healing's best bot lane counter.
Mordekaiser - The shield nerf is all that needs to be said.
Malzahar - Just not as strong as I thought he was. Weak in the current meta of bursty.
Corki - Doesn't fit the EU bot as well as other AD carries. His damage is just average now as far as laning is concerned.
Galio - Apparently hes a great solo mid. But whatever.
Tristana - Not a fan. She's fairly strong early game, but that doesn't make up for her being outclassed by a lot of other AD carries mid to late game.
Xin Zhao - I dont even know if this patch was a nerf or buff cuz I stopped keeping track. Regardless, I think he is a decent jungler that can make an impact late game.
Anivia - Just not enough consistent burst for the current meta. Also only single target burst for the most part. Her stun is hard to hit multiple targets and her Ult is the opposite of burst.
Pantheon - Not as good as everyone thought he would be.
Twisted Fate - Doesn't have the OP niche anymore because of his ulti and his weak lane.
Lux - Poor support, poor ap carry. She needs buffs.
Karma - Hotshot... for once... proved me wrong. Karma actually isn't half bad. IF. you play her as an ap carry. She still sucks as support.
Leblanc - She defines the bursty metagame, yet she still sucks. I don't understand. But ya she's awful.
Jarvan IV - Just really weak right now. Expect some buffs due to the S1 prize for gold and platinum.
Skarner - Lol. Was riot serious about this guy? Maybe it was a test to see if they could make a more troll character than heimerdinger and shaco combined. Well riot, you have succeeded. You continue to undershoot my expectations with new champs. Bravo.
And now for the ACTUAL new champ..... -drumroll-
Riven - Easily the worst champ [next to Skarner haha]. Her skillset just doesn't flow together at all, and her strongest non-ulti skill actually stuns her for as long as it stuns the enemy. Her cast time = stun time. How stupid is that? Her Q is weak damage, Her E is just whatever, and her Ulti is... wierd. The only reason she can even be viable is when her ulti is on. Then her damage is okay. But when her ulti is off, she is godawful. And the active on her ulti has terrible cast time and missile speed. Idk about the hotfix, but I cant imagine it was anything close to the Renekton buffs or Yorick buffs from a while ago.

Riven is a great champion, but her early gaem is TERRIBLE, and she relies heavily on farming. If you cannot farm, you are useless.
+rep me and you'll get good karma, wich means you won't be reincarnated into a rock! Isn't that awesome?

But yes this idea has been discussed more than Pam Anderson's tits in a plastic surgeons office.
That is true for about 99.9999% of LoL champions.
I don't know why you have Nidalee in Tier 4, she really is not that bad a pick. Also, after the slight buffs in this patch she's looking alot better
