Yeah Nick, you're right about Hextech being a fine item for Sion.

In fact he uses gunblade and rageblade fairly well, it's pretty good mid game but falls off a bit end game.

I'd still prefer a tanky build with Trinity and Infinity edge however.

It's a misconception that Sion needs attack speed, he doesn't.

Crit, move speed, damage, and resistances. That's all he needs.

AP Sion is even more basic. It's just AP and MS :P Lich bane opie~

Hrm. Been playing him all morning. I ran AP a few games and AD a few games.

Seems like consensus is that AP DOMINATES early game (MPen reds and AP quints = complete lane domination), and AD can just pwn all late game. So I am trying to come up w a way to combine the two. With AP Sion, my CS is just absurd. My ELO is ****, so my last hitting typically isnt great, nor are most of my opponents. The farm from AP sion gives a HUGE advantage.

However, the only times I fall short w AP Sion is if games drag on forever. Even getting Zhonya's for active and GA, I can still be focused down effectively while I wait for CD, even with huge health pool. But going AD Sion just doesn't allow me to get the farm I need to effectively carry.

So is there any way to start out with a AP build and transition into a late game AD dominator? I was thinking something like:

Runes: MPen reds, armor or mana regen yellows, mr per level blues, AP quints (to dominate early game still)

Masteries: 9/0/21 (still AP focused for early game farm)

Items: Start with double doran's rings and boots. The only thing I'm thinking about is I typically need one AP item after this, even just like a blasting wand, to effectively fully kill minion waves with my shield. From here, you would just go on to build Trinity Force, then either resistances or IE/PD/etc.

I think it has potential, but the question I guess is is there any effective item I could build out of that blasting wand that would boost my AP ability while not being completely useless for AD? The only thing I could think of is a rageblade. But any other suggestions? Just looking for a way to get enough AP to get sufficient farm early game, but also not have to just sell back all my AP stuff later which would efffectively make that farm advantage worthless.

Any ideas on this kinda strategy?

A great item for that: Hextech Gunblade(ok, you need Hextech Revolver, but that is even better)

It provides you enough ap for your strategy. And lane sustain, too.

Just use that build:

Item Sequence

Doran's Ring 400
Boots 300
Hextech Revolver 1050
Phage 1100
Mercury's Treads 1100
Hextech Gunblade 3000
Atma's Impaler 2300
Trinity Force 3333
Force of Nature 2800
Infinity Edge 3300

To be honest if you get the revolver, I would just rush the GB instead of building trinity.

Full GB first, then either Trinity or Atma's FoN how you choose.

I still wouldn't do that, but, I think that would be the best way.

Really, if you go ad and grab a quick vampiric scepter, you can pritorise enrage, which should help a lot in last hitting. going with some points in offense will help as well.

speaking of ap sion, i saw one that maxed his stun after his shield, no points in e.

****ing crazy, stun, shield, lichbane proc was killing everyone.

problem with ap sion is everybody has at least 2 seconds to chew his shield. since he has to get melee to cast it, most people can eat it with a simple, low cdr spell or a few aa's, rendering it uselss. then, except for his less than usefull ult, he's got 10 seconds without any survivability except that which he build. ad sion, on the other hand, is not only godlike with an atama's, but can proc crits that are in the upper hunreds and have massive hp regen, armor, and ls. and yes, ap sion gets a good early game. too bad, ad sion gets a fair early-game with 1 early point in the stun, maxing enrage first, and then the shield second, is very tough once he gets his op ult.
