Yes I should have released the guide when the champion would no longer be talked about. I'm actually happy with the results. Got more notice then any of my other guides. I "know" I shouldn't have released one so early, but at the same time if I didn't then it would have ended up like all my other guides. Forgotten or unnoticed. I always say that a guide shouldn't be released so early/close to a champ's release, but this time around, I took the advice of Apotheosis and struck while the iron was hot.

If I hadn't then I probably wouldn't have chosen to make a guide at all. Seeing as all my other guides (admittedly weren't as well done as my Xerath guide) never got past 65%; hitting a high of 83% with this guide was a milestone for me. Not everyone's guide gets the attention of mobalites as well as your guides do :P

EDIT: IMO waiting for other people to define a core item build means nothing, then it just becomes a layout war "who's looks best" with the best colors and an attempt at detailed information. I'd rather try to get the ball rolling with a certain take on a champ (and possibly fail) than let someone else define the parameters and then have me just end up battling against someone with more patience when it comes to writing lines of code.

The bright side of everything is guides can always be updated and improved. If my guide falls by the wayside in this first REAL attempt at making a guide, I can at least say "hey I had a guide high rated for a bit". As I said it's more than I've gotten with my other builds :P

For the first time I died as Anivia in ranked. I use have no deaths now I have 1 bringing down my KDA to 59:1. I feel depressed now, because it will probably never be this high again.

I don't like this :(

To be fair Cait was lagging, but that's like the 3rd game i've had where i've done well and my team hasn't.

Me and cait actually pushed to their nexus turret before they stopped us, and then our team couldn't hold the base until our tp was up again.

Well, my impression is that you want to make the new guide for Graves and lay the way for those items to be used, and be the innovator; Jhoi seems to prefer to wait for the common consensus, and make a guide displaying the "optimal" set of items and using the more "Popular" skilling orders and masteries that the community as a whole agree on.

I sympathize with you since I too prefer ingenuity and breaking away from the "Cookie-cutter" builds that you see everyone using in every game. I don't like the complacency of the player base and inability to try new things and think for themselves, so I always appreciate the players trying to make new things :)

I appreciate people who try new things, but for me that's something different than someone writing a guide about a champion they don't fully understand yet. Basically, if someone is fed up with the "Cookie-cutter" builds (as you call them) that everyone uses, that's fine. If that same person has a genuinely good alternative to offer, that's great and I think everyone should always try to be open to new things and should be able to think 'out of the box'.
If someone, however, just wants to be the first to write a guide about a new champion, this generally means they have little to no experience playing the champ and therefore they often get the build or even simple things such as the optimal skill sequence wrong. They also can't really answer any detailed questions about the champion because they probably don't know the actual answer yet.

There's a small difference imo, that's all ;)

Thanks to Hoppermh for the signature!

The issue is that the League community (And the Moba community in particular) have made up their minds and built up huge walls about certain champions and refuse to believe that there are realistic alternatives.

For example- Solo top lane Olaf. I could tell you it's strong, and I could tell any other number of players that it's strong, but until those players see it, they won't believe me. But it is strong, it's actually somewhat disgustingly strong.

I could write a guide here and talk about solo top Olaf, and it would get downvoted simply for the fact that I'm suggesting to solo top with Olaf- You see the problem here?

While I do agree that a bad guide that doesn't deserve upvotes using a bad guide should be downvoted, there are good guides with strong builds, and they get DV'd for being something different or out of the box.

That's what I'm referring to anyway.

Being told blitzcrank and Shaco are not a good team when you can yank people into a box o' bushes and walk away.
