I wonder... would someone make a tank tier list. Tanks are vital. But yet so many play them badly. There are many other tier lists and I think a tank tier list could be very useful.

I don't think there will ever be a tank tier list. Most, if not all tanks, are situational picks.
They have a lot of Magic damage, Galio becomes a better pick with Rammus as the alt for AD.
Sure there are more general tanks but it means they are weaker in certain places than others.
If there was a tier list, Shen would be bottom of the barrel or fairly close to it.
It's also kind of hard to define what a tank is in the current state of the game.
Champs labeled as tanks can be built tanky-DPS (Ala-Maokai) and champs that are labeled "fighter" can be played full tank for their defenses (Ala-Udyr) or disrupts (Ala-Blitz) or even simply their utility to piss people off. (Ala-****in' Singed)

There isnt really a tank role in the game. The only TRUE tanks are shen and leona. They are designed to cc and soak damage.
Every other champ that you would consider "tank" is really an offtank. Even rammus and galio are closer to offtanks than actual tanks.

The meta is build tank+damage, or offtank. Ridiculous offtanks 5v5 battle, no one dies.
The only thing I am really shaking my head about with the current meta isn't the meta itself... it is the fact that there are several heroes that can build pretty much all tank items and maybe 1 DPS item and still do disgusting amounts of damage...
